Let's not devolve into hurling insults or starting a flame war, though, instead keeping this a respectful place to share our opinions.

Recently a player on the server (Pebbles) was banned multiple times for kill aura, except he wasn't using kill aura. Not only was he banned and unbanned multiple times, it was the same video that got him banned the first time. Edit: Also forgot to mention that he was re-banned for the video after XChaosZeroX said that the video couldn't be used against him.

I'll be using the video as points of reference in this post so I'll link it here for those of you that haven't seen it yet.



I'm not gonna say that in any part of the video it doesn't look like he's hacking, there are some sketchy parts but I am going to give points on why these parts can be legit.

The first instance in which Pebbles looks to be hacking is around 0:09 - 0:13, he lands a hit when he's looking to the left of Caleb. The way this is possible is either of the two lagging or Caleb's client rendering Pebbles in the wrong spot (sorta like when you see people running through the ground), where in reality Pebbles is probably inside Caleb at the first hit and then looking at Caleb and Caleb's client rendering him as looking somewhere else. This also could be meep's hit detection acting weird regardless it's just one or two weird hits which shouldn't be considered enough evidence for a ban.

The second instance is around 0:16 - 0:18, it seems like Caleb may have been lagging and took delayed knockback or Pebbles got some decent ping hits.

The third instance and probably the main reason he's been banned and re-banned over and over again happens around 0:50-0:59, Pebbles hits Caleb into the air and then straight lines him back, the reason Pebbles looks like he's using reach is because 1. Caleb is in the air which means pebbles has the slight lower ground advantage 2. Caleb is taking knockback allowing pebbles to sprint forward and land more hits. When you take knockback your reach is slightly reduced because you're moving backwards. It's why straight lining works. If Pebbles had reach Caleb wouldn't be able to land those hits in mid combo around 0:55. Meep's crappy hit detection also probably had some involvement in this as well.

 

Good points but it's pretty flawed. He initiates combos by critting, which is okay except for the fact I can't hit him back, I should be able to at least trade with him, as critting reduces your reach. However that's not the case as you see throughout the video him critting me with no chance of ever reaching him. I'm 100% positive he was cheating but at this point I don't really care no point in trying to create more drama

 

I don't think I have ever been more disappointed in staff. Wait, I take that back. (shots fired) Anyway, it was obvious kill aura, it did not look like it could have been lag at all, and let's be honest: if some of the best pvpers on this server think this guy is hacking, he is probably hacking.

 

I think its clear that he is hacking but there aren't enough instances for a ban according to meepcraft's policy (3 instances). So in short, I don't think a ban is fair in this situation although I do still believe Pebbles was hacking.

 

We as a staff team apologize for the confusion and lack of consistancy. This has been much more of a fiasco than ever intended.

 

I've been in KitPvP and half the fights I get are about as suspicious as the fight in the video. Is it possible they're hacking? Yes. Is he likely hacking? Not really.

Is this sufficient evidence to ban and THEN re-ban? NO.

He was hacking, he should be unbanned because of the staff, but the staff should also work to be better at spotting hackers, if they actually new what clients looked like people wouldn't get banned for "reach" and people like pebbles wouldn't be banned, granted a lot of people on both sides of this argument are probably like "legendcaleb said he was hacking, its hacks" or "pebbles is so cool, hes not hacking".

 

He is toggling ClickAimbot. It shouldn't take a genius to realize that no vanilla clients will consistently straightline, with crits, and maintain an advantage over an opponent without trading hits. Had he been playing legit with no hacked client, he may have gotten crits off by jumping, but he would have been hit by legend shortly afterwards, as crits make it much harder to maintain a reach advantage due to depressing angles.

 

Of course he is unbanned why am I not surprised?

 

He should be unbanned, if the staff screw up as badly as they did, they shouldn't ban him.

What they should do is work on learning how to spot hackers, so this doesn't happen again.
