MeepCraft Social Media

Hey.

So I was wondering, who is actually in charge of Meep's social media? I looked at the Meep Facebook Page and that was last updated on April 16, and the Instagram's last post was 90 weeks ago. In order to attract more players we should be updating these accounts and sharing these links everywhere. If they see a Instagram page with a picture of an old spawn from last year, players are going to think that this server is no more.

Now, I'm not saying go update it every day, because that's too time consuming and tedious. At least post something every 1-2 weeks. Something like, a picture some player took that looks nice, or an event going on, or some of video a Media dude made. Or even post 'Trivia questions' on the facebook page like you use to to attract meeps.

Someone take charge. If there is already someone in charge, try posting things to bring more players on our server!

It would help alot with meepcrafts activity if we use some ''free'' way advertising. Like this and post on forums ect.

Meep give someone the work to advertise meepcraft on facebook, twitter, instagram, forums ect.

Doesnt need to be a staff member, just a loyal member that wont use the account to advertise it own services.

 

Not forums, people find fourms like months after they join, but improving the home page that's showing things over a year old, the economy update, the Christmas update

 

The last person to sucessfully run our social media sites was Shain. When he resigned from Supermod the duty to keep up our social media was revived by Cooleys, after I bothered them about it. You can tell the difference though between Shains' and Cooleys' Facebook posts. Shain was paying to have our posts 'pushed' to a wider audience, anyone with a profitable business on Facebook understands what I mean. Whereas Cooleys was not paying to push our content. The result shows in the amount of likes our content attracted, under shain each post was getting 500+ likes while with cooleys it was getting 5 likes. The issue is whether players are actually gathered via social media, we know they see the content but we're not sure if they actually join and stay on the server. It's not clear whether it's cost-efficient for the benefit of the server to be purchasing a 'push' every week for FB.

I propose someone makes a survey to see how players hear about us. If a good portion of new players answer with 'Social Media' then we can get a better idea of the cost-benefit's of reviving Meeps social media accounts.

In short, having social media may actually not even be worth it, but someone should take the steps to find out whether it is or not before we make the decision to bring it back to speed.

 

Both posts were actually made by me (I left late January)! One was paid, one wasn't Lesson to be learned here: paying gets attention. But like you said we don't know if they come and stay on the server.

I like the idea of surveys. What about a simple plug-in could be made to ask new players how they heard in exchange for a few meebles?

Honestly, I wish I had the time to come back as media! Is the media team even making/posting things still? If they are, I don't see enough presence of them. They can make the content but people need to be posting it places. Encourage players to post the videos too.

ImNotBlond suggested this a while ago and I think she ran the Instagram for a little while.

I think the Media rank should be incorporated into the Facebook/Instagram/reddit/etc because it is after all social MEDIA. I'd love to see these pages with regular posts promoting and showcasing Mesp, however they are no competition to the forums itself in terms of updates and news. Social media in my opinion should be used for the [sole] purpose of promoting players as any news would be found more easily and in more detail here (forums.)

 

Maybe social media could be used to announce the release of the new spawn and shoutout to players who are top voters/top donors.
