Should Fireworks be Legal?

Generally, this is the time of year when people are preparing to blow a fortune on fireworks to explode as a celebration of America's freedom. As it has become known in the last few years, we have more and more stories of people being injured by fireworks. Therefore, should fireworks be illegal?

Fireworks that can largely be dangerous? Nah
Sparklers and small bits and the like? Sure.
exploding things is fun.

 

Ironically, people are injured more from the sparklers than the big stuff.

It's not just safety reasons, though. Emergency vehicles have issues traveling through residential areas because the street is filled with burnt-out fireworks, veterans have loads of issues with the noise because it reminds them of combat, animals are always running off during that time, etc. If it was just for safety reasons, then I would 100% say go ahead.

 

If you use enough sparklers, you can make a bomb.

 

Just to clarify, I am discussing personal fireworks. Displays and such are perfectly fine, as they are on a large enough scale to have the proper safety measures in place.

Around here, loads of them are illegal, but get shot off anyways because they are sporadic enough not to get caught.

 

If guns are legal, then fireworks definitely should be.

This is the issue with this country, people seek to outlaw everything they happen to disagree with.

The solution here is to stop sending our soldiers in pointless decade old conflicts in third world countries.

Don't try to keep others safe by outlawing activities, that's a very dangerous logic to have.

 

While I agree with this, that doesn't solve the already present problem.

 

It's annoying when it's 11:30 PM and you can still hear giant loud fireworks being set off not too far away. That's basically what it was like for me. I went to the fireworks show at 9:20 PM, enjoyed it. But please be respectful when it's getting late. Seriously. People are trying to sleep or have a nice quiet talk outside. But outlaw? I don't see why it's necessary. People just need to not be stupid.

 

Firstly, let me clarify I am not against fireworks being legal. I am perfectly fine with fireworks of virtually every kind. I feel there should be limits on mainly the noise. No one has a problem with the colors, it is always the sound.

Calculate it this way, if a group of families all gather to shoot off fireworks in the street, they are blocking said street, making it so all vehicles cannot get through.

Whether you agree with where the government is sending soldiers or not, this is not any kind of solution for veterans who have laid their lives on the line to fight for their country. Fireworks don't offend soldiers; they are affecting a mental condition received during combat.

 

Maybe if people weren't complete idiots.

 

Where I live, fireworks are illegal (without permits) but the law doesn't get enforced.

 

Well, we also have a tradition of drinking alot on the 4th. Some connection...maybe?
