Travelling overseas??

Hello meep!!

So i am currently not in the land of Australia. I am on a two weeks holiday in New Zealand.
Honestly it is so interesting noticing all the differences.
So i post this question to you guys!

What is the biggest difference you have experienced when travelling overseas?

e.g. cultural differeneces? Roads? general gestures?

 

The sun is a different color.

 

I don't have my vegemite and lamingtons when I travel overseas.

Whenever I go to a mainland European country I always end up with people looking at me like I'm a nutter. In England (not sure if it's the same in the US) when crossing the road you put your hand up as a thank you but it's not common courtesy (at least in the countries I've been to) there so I have no idea what they think I'm doing but I must look pretty crazy. :s

Everyone hates Chinese tourists, so I get really dirty looks. When I then say I'm American and speak English loudly, I just get marginally less dirty looks.

in France it's like, some people trying to steal yo money. probably a big difference I've seen, so I just hugged all my bags so no one could pickpocket.

in Australia to say thank you, you often nod your head or put your hand up. So as we are driving around we have been doing it and no one has done it back. They just give us a strange look. I get what you mean and it's so annoying

I have to learn that other people speak other languages and are probably insulting me in their language tbh. I went to Paris and they kepy talking trash in French lmao

I've just been to a few places

-America is full of fat people on scooters eating hot dogs and everyone bullying me for my Aussie
accent and constantly asking me "SAY G'DAY MATE" and then laughing at me when I do
(Las Vegas is a heap of naked girls and drunk men dressed as mario and luigi @NinjaRoxy )
-Scotland is a heap of people in freezing weather wearing t-shirts with houses that are the
same as every single one on their street
-The Caribbean was just a heap of American tourists and nice beaches.

I haven't experienced any difference because I haven't traveled overseas. (damn you rich people <3)

Last summer I went to Riga, and saw that crime was very big there. Like, the building beside mine was shady, and had Bmws and Bentlys and Range Rovers outside, and every so often a group in suits would drive off in them. Oh, and I was almost killed in a street race.

I hate them but not in a rascsit way. They travel in massive packs, and when their bus pulls up to the restraint you're at, you know you're not getting that burger you ordered ever. Or have you ever had to wait to cross the stree because it was hogged by 50 elderly Asian people. Anyways, I'm pointing this out, that they're the only ones that travel in packs that big.

Also, don't raise your hand to say thanks outside of Australia, just mouth thanks.

Oh, and French drivers are very very agresive. Even French Canadian drivers are.
