Shotguns are one of the worst weapons for self defense. First, you damage your home and hit things you don't want to hit. Second, it's much harder to plea self defense on trail when your weapon of defense is a shotgun. And third, you have absolutely no control over where you hit the target, so you may kill them, land a slug in their wrist, or hit them anywhere that would not stop them from hurting you or whomever you're trying to defend.
Lmao if pistols are inaccurate you're doing it wrong.

You cant even spell most words correctly, and youve never held a gun. So yes, I 110% know more than you about gun control. Ive also been brought onto live podcasts to talk about gun control because Its literally my main passion.

    ?Hert?

    What does this even say?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Police? SWAT? Every gun owner? What are you even talking about??????????????????????Protect*

Gun statistics are skewed because you cant study guns because of the NRA. All gun stats are estimates.

Ill put it this way. . . .
IF LESS PEOPLE HAVE CARS, LESS CAR ACCIDENTS.
    LESS GUNS, LESS SHOOTINGS.
Check crime rate though. Just because people cant shoot, doesnt mean they wont kill. Also, You can illegally buy a gun regardless so. . . Yeah. Statistics flawed again.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. The 2nd amendment was made so Americans can protect themselves from tyrannical government. It was not made in the wild west LMFAO. Look at the first amendment. America was built around the freedom to have a different opinion and speak it freely. I literally have NO idea what youre talking about.

Im a police officer. Im pretty sure if ANYONE is gunna know about guns, Its gunna be the guy that carries one to protect myself, my family, and every civilian around me every single day of my life. Theirs many topics I dont know much about, but guns is 1 thing I know a LOT about.

I haven't read anything except the title and I'm keeping this simple.

If guns are banned, people will still get them.
If civilians don't have guns, we won't be able to stop the people with the guns.
    Increase civilian gun carrying.

If there was a club-goer in Orlando that had a small pistol on them, don't you think it could've been stopped quicker instead of waiting for police to arrive?

    What?
    --- Double Post Merged, Jun 24, 2016, Original Post Date: Jun 24, 2016 ---
I agree with you mostly. However the Orlando situation is different. Because the club serves alcohol it is a gun free zone. Guns are prohibited from any establishment that serves alcohol even though they allow concealed carry in Florida.

Same time, Even if someone tucked one in their waist and got caught, all they can do is tell them to leave so. It would 110% have been worth it and it also would have certainly given a better chance to stop it.

Do you know how much the homicide rate (remember, that's what actually matters) has changed because of that? Not at all.
    I'm sorry?
    --- Double Post Merged, Jun 24, 2016, Original Post Date: Jun 24, 2016 ---
True, and while normally I would promote guns for self defense, alcohol + firearm isn't a good idea, and (although I don't know how crowded it was) a gun probably wouldn't have done much good in a really, really crowded area, as you wouldn't even be able to see who's shooting.

I think Police officers are often overlooked in favor of military personnel (not that they don't deserve attention), especially in this day and age, so thank you for your service :).

Also I would like to note that the ban didn't affect the trend very much; it was already headed down.

Think about it like this. Guns are made for killing. Some are for people and some are for hunting. You guys are saying that people will get guns anyway BUT WHY MAKE IT EASY. Your trying to distract from the problem saying that not all are for killing or people can kill with other weapons. Which is true but why wouldn't (and you guys are trying not to answer this question) why wouldn't you make it harder for the average person to get a gun that is made FOR THE SOLE PER POSE TO KILL PEOPLE. ONES THAT ARE MADE TO KILL GROUPS PEOPLE FAST AND EFFECTIVELY. Why would you give those certain guns to a citizen.

That is not a smart idea for the gun owner to fire another bullet in a crowd of people

    I'll do my best.
    Indeed.
And some are for target practice, competitions, sport, etc., but yes.
Because people have a right to be armed, and if you add difficulties to the process, it's potentially stripping them of that right.

If by 'people', you mean 'people 'unfit' to possess a firearm', then I might agree with you, depending on your definition of unfit.
I don't think we have been.

Because it's their right to obtain a firearm. Why would you make it difficult for the average Joe to get a gun? The average person never uses a weapon to take another's life.
Yes, that's kind of the point. Self defense and all that.
Automatic weapons do that, and they're not available for civilian purchase, to the best of my knowledge.

    We don't.

What about to say is not arguing with u and don't argue with this certain post because this one is just plan point of view which I havens really said to much about this exactly. I believe Guns are not a human right that sould be followed. We can argue this about everything. If gun is a right it is a for me to own what ever i want then. But i cant own whatever i want. I've always believe that laws put in place mostly for the safety and consort of people. Guns are not used safely. When someone is being danger est and coase serious and i dont mean like stubbing your to toe im talking about the death of countless people.

The main point of a gun is NOT to kill people. I dont care what you say. Theirs guns made for defense, sport, hunting, combat (killing), ect. MOST guns are used for target practice or defense. (which most people will never discharge at a person).

I will reply to this and answer it now.
Any gun made to kill groups of people fast and effectively is illegal for civilians to own. They can only purchase Semi-auto, bolt action, ect. NO FULL AUTO.
I will never support making it harder for people to get guns because I personally feel that most americans should be able to own one for defense.
I AM however FOR making the process more thorough to weed out people who arent stable enough. But harder? No.

THEY CANNOT BE PURCHASED BY CITIZENS. Thats the last time ill say that.

The ONLY way to stop bad guys with guns, is to be a good guy with a gun. Thats why Police, Swat, Military, you name it, carry guns.

@tristan107366 If you and I were sitting outside in a park and a crazy guy who stole his dads gun ran up and started shooting right infront of us, Choose the option that would make us safer.

    1. We ask him not to shoot us.
    2. We try to run.
    3. Call the police (who will come with guns) and hope they get there before we get shot.
    4. I pull out my gun that im trained to use and can legally carry and put an end to it.

I know youll pick an answer that helps you with your case, But you know in your head what the real answer is.

Of course that is not a smart idea, that's why you don't do that. You be smart and wait for a time that you can shoot without the possibility of injuring someone.

My claim is that we can influence how much damage criminals do. And if we can decrease the damage, we therefore decrease the lives lost. The war on drugs is a different story. People don't obtain drugs legally through the government, because a lot of guns in crime violence are obtained legally.

Sounds good on paper doesnt it.

Every day is different, Every situation is different. Car accidents, domestic disputes, bar fights, search and rescue, traffic, construction, roadkill, assault, threats, robberies, you name it. Every day is a different story. Some days I upholster 5 times, some days I forget im carrying.

Yesterday was paperwork (every day), speed trap (2 pullovers), seat belt check (no tickets), fire alarm (no fire), then minor car accident (no injuries). Pretty nice day.

Quite frankly, I don't see why it wouldn't work in the US if it worked in other countries. Our gun culture is the only thing I could think of that would stop us.

You don't get to go on a debate forums and say: "Here's my opinion guys, don't argue with it." That's not the way debate forums work.

Guns aren't a human right, the right to self defense is, and guns happen to assist that right the best.
That doesn't make any sense. Please explain.
    Obviously.
That is the purpose of most laws.
Um, yes. They are. 99.999% of the time when you use your gun, nobody is going to get hurt.
The death of countless people is more like the Holocaust, or the purges in the Soviet Union, or China under Mao, where you literally cannot count the number of people killed. When you're talking about what guns do, it's like, "Oh no, 4 people just died." Countable.

The average police response time is 9 minutes. Gunfights take... a couple seconds? Say, 10? That time enough for 54 gunfights before a cop shows up. You would die.

4 is your best option for survival, and survival is what counts.
