It.Is.Not.A.Donation. I'm baffled how its still called a donation by so many people. The term is used to imply that you have no rights as a person who spent money, but you do. You are customers. These are not donations. You buy a product and exchanged money for it. This isn't an argument, there isn't really much to discuss. Legally, its a purchase. You cannot write this off for a tax deduction. Even the owner of the server came on and essentially said they were purchases.

I'm saying this for two reasons.
1) The fact that this was settled long ago and people still blindly argue that it is with no substantial evidence beyond that fact that the server says donations.
2) It disempowers the supporters of the server by essentially saying that once you hand over your money, you are entitled to nothing because I call it something its not. Its a trick and its not something those who keep the server afloat should fall for because they are the reason this server remains. Don't be fooled.

 

This is a donation, these are just perks that happen when you give, like say, a church's membership, or a donation, and you get a pen or a bear

the best minigame server mineplex is a much more popular server and its highest rank costs about 60$ (I know it's 120$ but 90% of the time they have 1/2 off)

Our server's highest rank was 320$ and didn't offer nearly as much as what that other server mineplex does. We've never gotten lower than 25% off, either.

The fact that we put ourselves on that level is one of the many reasons as to why the server is crumbling to its demise.

Completely wrong. Dein argued the same thing and got bodied for it. Its a product because its an exchange of money for a virtual item that constantly evolves as time goes on. Your example of a church membership is also completely false because the only reason church memberships are tax deductible is because they are a religious organization. Your membership to any other group is not tax deductible. Your membership to Hulu is more of what this is. You can't use an organization that is completely different than the one we are talking about to make your point. This is a for profit server and should be treated as such.

Heyy. I'm sorry that you felt targeted by this and I can see why you did. This honestly wasnt' aimed at only you. This is an annoying problem that extends to a lot of people beyond you ,who continue to make a ridiculous argument that does nothing but take away power from donors. I'm really happy you saw dein's side. A lot of people see this as a donation and its just not true and i dont want people to keep thinking it.

Im indifferent on this. Either way you're wasting money on a dying video game on a dying server. Personally, I would spend the $20 on to upgrade my rank on a new video game that will give me more enjoyment than on a server that has so many upper staff changes and conflicting interests.

 

Wouldn't you rather spend it on something completely unrelated to video games?

It's a purchase, yes. You give money to the server in exchange for a rank, meebles, heads, fireworks etc. However, you do not give money to the server in exchange for power over what is developed in terms of mini games, plugins, and donor perks. You can still have an opinion, but at the end of the day staff make the decision and it gets passed up the line to techs with fuzzlr at the top. Just like how it works with any other business, you buy the product, not a say in how the company is run. And, like every other company out there, if you don't like how things are being run, you can choose not to buy the product. Why it's called a donation, one can speculate or just ask fuzzlr

 

Agreed, but there is one thing a customer can have that a simple donor cannot. Expectations of service.

That is the ultimate cost of the terminology, a customer has a reasonable right to expectations of service.

 

Nononono you don't understand. Why spend your money on actual items you can touch when you can spend it on a game (which you've already purchased with your own money) and making said game easier or prettier? You must be stupid to not realise which one is the better option!

 

At the end of the day it was some stranger's $160 dollars that was ""donated" in exchange for my own savings of meebles, so I could care less.

You pay taxes because if you don't, you'll go to prison.

 

And if you go to prison you don't get any political power. So would it be a purchase
