You know, I'm not really sure why, but a lot of smart people talk about it.

I think it has to do with having the ability to understand just how many limitations you have, and if you mess up even once (which is guaranteed to happen), you feel inadequate, and will likely hear about it from other people for a long time.

In addition, some people might think you're odd, weird, annoying, or even stupid (though just because you're odd, weird, annoying, or people say you're stupid, it doesn't mean you're smart lol), and they'll tell you so.

I aced my history class because of this. My memorization is ok but that doesn't help much for essay based exams. The essays were easy because analyzing key events is something that is easy for me

The loneliness factor can be avoided however. All you need to do is surround yourself with peers who share a very deep common interest and also those who have traits which you lack. Someone once said that your personality is a mix of the closest five people in your life, and I find that to be the common truth in personality building. Also, I think that the low self esteem stems from the ability to think clearly, but not being to put thoughts and feelings into words

Yeah true for some people. I think that insecurity is based solely off of physical appearance and ability, however. If you're good-looking and a sports star, you can be very smart and still maintain confidence. I know some people like this. I also believe that insecurity can just be a personality trait that many dumb people also have. On the other hand, I do think it's true that many people who would be considered smart have this trait.

If they aren't as smart as you are, that's a problem. You can't talk to them about whatever you're thinking about, because they won't understand.

I also think that the inability to express thoughts and emotions comes from the fact that intelligent people tend to listen much more than they speak, as a great way to learn is from other people and by asking thought probing questions

I play varsity baseball, and I'm pretty good (not the best...yet... but I can and will be by Senior year). And yet, I have the least self esteem of anyone I know.

I feel like you got this off the internet...

Just because someone is smart, it doesn't mean they want to ask thought probing questions, or even want to learn.

on the contrary they can help you understand what it's like to live their lives. I've learned many social skills from my friends, both smart and not so smart

The different between smart and intelligence is ability and actual knowledge. One can be born smart, but never once use their ability to learn. Intelligence, on the other hand, is something built off of being inherently smart, in asking deeper and deeper questions and understanding abstract ideas

Most insecurity comes from wondering what other people think about them. Spending more time in solitude than out socializing is sometimes what happens to drive people here.

It makes logical sense. The less intelligent someone is, the less likely it is that they have prior knowledge of something that may contradict them, while on the other hand, intelligent people have a plethora of ideas, experience, and knowledge that causes them to question, double check, and in the end, doubt.

True, but you still can't connect with them the way you could connect with someone smarter.

I have too, but I've only really been close to the smarter ones.
Actually, being smart and being intelligent are pretty much the same although there is a key difference. You can be born intelligent (with the ability to learn and apply skills), but being smart is something you aquire (knowing what to do in a particular situation). That's why intelligent people aren't always street smart, and vice versa. However, when you're intelligent, you tend to be smart also.

I believe the type of person you're thinking of is an intelectual; someone who appreciates knowledge for it's own sake.
    Actually, that's being smart. http://www.differencebetween.net/miscellaneous/difference-between-smart-and-intelligent/

I do have to agree with you on connecting with other friends to an extent. My closest friends are quite smart. Although I have less intelligent people who I hang out with, but they tend to joke about rather silly things and it somewhat frustrates me. The only other friends I have who are not smart are the kind of people who I'd want to be like. Caring, Agape and Phileo love, ones who are there as lifetime friends regardless of circumstances.
Try calc 2, swapping back and forth from integrals and derivatives and keeping every rule in check

Well, I mean, at our school we have Calc AB and Calc BC. Calc 2 is probably the same as Calc BC
