Kush is getting legalized up here in Canada quite soon. And Americans aren't only obsessed with Marijuana, there are many other narcotics that are popular as well. 'Broccoli' is so popular because it's easy to obtain and has certain medical properties, but that's only for medical marijuana that is sold in specialized retailers. The street version however, is quite a risky drug to be playing around with. This is because the 'grass' sold on the street is often mixed with other drugs. From my own experience (yes I have smoked 'Broccoli'), The first time I smoked, I got really turnt. When I began to sober up, I asked what was in the joint that they called the "Boom Boom No Fu Fu Do Do" and they said it contained; Hash, pure THC, Tobacco, Kief and a pinch of Vape Juice. Yeah... It was a good trip tho!

Canada seems a bit more enthusiastic about it, they're doing it rn.

Idk where my opinions lie on this one, will take many people out of debt cause marijuana prices go way down but of course, it will be available to smoke. Even now that they have decriminalized it, i see dispensaries popping up everywhere, I've probably seen 20-25 different ones, even though they are technically illegal and should be shut down but, people think they can (and will) make good money off it so, anything for money.

The reason America is more involved with legalizing marijuana is because it is demonized in America where in the rest of the world they just don't really care. Do some research on weed it's like nothing.

Studies have shown though that marijuana can increase your chance of getting schizophrenia. And then if you have schizophrenia you could get other mental disorders such as depression. So. Idk.

^ This pretty much sums up everything I was going to say.

Americans are "obsessed" with legalizing it because in most places, it seems to already be, or is in the process of, getting legalized. Why do we want in on the "trend"? Positive impacts on economics, people's emotional and physical health, and of course also for recreational purposes.

It's not that bad of a drug, as many have also already said. In the long run, it's a whole lot healthier than drinking or smoking your average cigarette. Alcohol dehydrates you. Alcohol causes people to act in ways that they usually wouldn't act, and when you have enough of it, (which can be hard to gauge with its delayed reactions) you can get blackout drunk and completely loose control of your body, with no memory of what happened at all. Alcohol is a depressant, and can increase numbers of rape cases, along with other crimes.

Cigarettes on the other hand, are full of really bad chemicals, which increase the risk of cancer in potentially almost every part of your body. It ruins your teeth, weakens your hair, wrinkles your skin, destroys your lungs, empties your bank account and comes with a very strong physical addiction, coupled with terrible withdrawal symptoms.

Everything impacts everybody differently, hence why some drink alcohol, and some don't. Some get addicted, some don't. Some people get social, flirty, angry, happy, sad, etc. I will confess that I have driven under the influence of marijuana before and I didn't personally find it very pleasant, though I do know many people who are capable of driving UTI just fine. Driving while high is a lot safer than driving drunk for you are more relaxed and some/most people tend pay more attention to detail than when not.

[ First hand experience, just in case you were interested. ] It wasn't uncommon for me to get actually really tense (aka paranoid) with my grip on the wheel and consistently making sure I was going exactly the speed limit, not one under, not one over, and stay in the very center of my lane(s), but then I would also occasionally realize I've zoned out and be all "Holy crap, I hope I didn't just run a stop sign back there, somewhere!" I'm not sure how Colorado regulates marijuana influence while on the road but I intend on looking into some more research on it.

Not to sound like a hypocrite, but @builderjunkie012 , I agree with what you said and understand where you're coming from. As one who's done it and knows what the effects could be, I feel a lot safer on the streets knowing that everyone is "sober".

Most of what you said is correct.
Except, marijuana is addictive. It's a drug, and people do become addicted to it. Yes, you are smoking a plant, but the plant still has chemicals in it.
Marijuana can be beneficial for your health, only if used correctly and without abuse.
Although opening up your throat may sound good, but in reality, you're swelling up your lungs, which causes a good chance of inflammation. Yah, there have been studies that show that marijuana does not causes lung cancer. Bu there have been studies that show it does show negative impacts inthe brain. Marijuana has a greater negative impact on adolescence and teenagers and young kids, generally people who are still growing. It has a phschological and physical negative impact them. Still the same with adults, but the effects aren't as great. Since you brought of cigs, it's is better than using cigs. no doubt.
Marijuana is like any drug, it still has its negative side. People act like marijuana is the perfect drug, and that it doesn't have any negative impacts. It still has many!
However, it doesn't make sense to keep marijuana illegal. Alcohol and some other drugs have worse effects inthe body than marijuana does. And, it's also another economy debut that is too much to explain.

It's also apart of an American philosophy. America has one of the worst drug abuse problems, yet a lot of the drugs that are abused are illegal. In other countries, they don't tell their kids not to do things, when kids are curious, they don't say no. They just let them do it. The kids will usually ish it off likes its nothing, and won't make a huge deal about, becuase the parents didn't make a huge deal about it. By saying no, it's gets the kids more and more curious, and by the time they have access to things (like high school) they are so curious they try things and becuase of peer pressure and outside influences they become addicted to drugs and have that sort of life. By saying no, and making drugs and alcohol and everything such a huge deal, it's gets people more and more curious, and start to think about it a lot more. America has kind of ruined itself for the next few decades on drug abuse and alcohol abuse standpoint. It's probably confusing to understand, but that's kind of at least on convulsion I came up with.

On August 1st, 2016 the DEA will re-classify marijuana to Schedule 2. Meaning everyone in the country will be able to get it medicinally.
