    Hi,

So I was wondering, do you really count your in game friends as your "friends", do you think you can know someone without ever meeting them in person, and does having friends on any online platform, count for more or equal as your IRL friends? discuss

No. Studies show it counts for less than real life friends.

    1. ye, after some time of knowing them. i made some friends in games (not meep) and one is my best friend after knowing them for 5 years
    2. ye, probably. just know them for some time and you'll get to know them
    3. I'm not social irl, but i doubt it. you know your irl friend in person while the game, you need a ton of time to get to know them. probably you have more online friends than irl friends but its not usually the same

    Online
Real life provides only a small fraction of the people that exist. You can meet so many other people online. Varieties of personality and viewpoints in all topics.

I'd have to say it depends on your relationship with the person. Many seasoned players on this server will tell you they have been changed by the interactions they engage in with their Meep friends. Mostly, I believe it varies from person to person, all depending on two variables.
    1. How often do you spend time with your real-life friends as compared to online friends?
    2. How personal is the relationship?

If you are talking to someone IG, aren't you still interacting with them? you can communicate with each other, and im many online games play together, that sounds alot to me like IRL friends... (maybe im just trying to find excuses for not having a life)

I'm closer to my in game friends than my irl ones, that's a fact. I've stayed up to ridiculous o'clock talking about my deepest fears and my greatest hopes. I've fallen asleep talking to them and woken up to messages from them. I'm not judged nor hurt by any of these people I see as friends, I can be me. I can tell crude jokes I can say weird things and without a doubt in my mind I trust these people. When I've had no one in my darkest times they've been there for me. So yes my in game friends count for more than my "real life" ones because they don't expect me to be something I'm not.

    Agreed!

Honestly my friends in real life are all popular and have better things to do then hang out with one of their "Nerd" Friends.
Ive stayed up snapchatting people from meep til like 4 in the morning. Keeping up over 20 streaks, (@LadyCass @2leah2 @Lady_Hestia )
I count these people as my friends because we talk every day about some deep stuff as well as just funny stuff, ill be honest, teamspeak shows that I talk more with these people then my in real life friends which may sound sad, despite it not being sad to me. Who cares honestly, they're still people and people can be friends. ;o. There's only certain people in game who I would truly count as friends though. It depends on whether I talk a bunch with them and can have fun with them and not argue 24/7.

I would say that I am closer to my in-game friends (not only meep) than my in-real-life friends. In real life, i'm not very extroverted and I certainly do not like to talk about my feelings with anyone, not even my family. I think the last time I told someone about my deep feelings was about a year ago, when my best friend and I was sitting on a roof (don't ask why).

With my in-game friends I can stay up all night talking about anything that comes to mind, I don't even have to worry about what I say, because I trust them and I know that they're not the ones to judge me.

So yeah, I love my in-real-life friends but, I would definitely say that my in-game friends count for more.

I had a really long post but I decided to rewrite it lol
I think that my meep friends are true friends especially once I have them on social media. (Over 111 snap streak with candy master woot) There are some people I text even more than people irl. I actually have plenty of irl friends but I don't have too many close ones. I think my real life friends do come before my online friends but I have a question
What do you consider the definition of online/meepfriends vs long distance friends?

    Best way to put it

although when it gets to the stage of these people dating on a game that's when they should know when to stop

Not all friends (in-game and outside) matter the same to me as others.
Some people I've met online are much closer to me than old schoolmates etc and I'd definitely call most of them friends.

There are many great people we get to know online. "people irl" is used too much, remember people online ARE real life people lol. So yes, friends you meet online can be your real friends, they are just as real as the friends you know in person, you just can't interact with them personally and possibly not bond with them in the same way.

Me personally; I wouldn't really say friends met online are equal in importance to the friends known in person but it depends on how close you are to your friends, although if I were to compare friends I care for less, I'd say some of my online friends I prefer and find more important.

Why do people with such great personalities and with so much in common have to be so far apart? It's unfortunate

I sat on a roof with them. The sky was pink. I reached over to touch their hand, but slipped and fell and rolled off the roof and was run over by a car. I have a fear of heights and an irrational fear of falling.
