    Drastically unfair?
My high school (in America) has about 6% black students, and 90% white students.
However, out of the college scholarships the school offers, two thirds are reserved for minority races.
Who is that drastically unfair to?
There is not a single law in existence that is actively against black people. In fact, with all the "affirmative action" laws that have been passed recently, there are a lot of laws that are for black people.
And the cops aren't trusted because no one ever calls them. We see crime running rampant in ghettos, but the crime is committed by the people living in the ghetto, and goes unreported because of the people living in the ghetto.
Being angry at the actions of one specific police officer doesn't mean you should harass innocent law enforcement officials that are just trying to do their job and help people.
You shouldn't be committing any crimes at all, we have laws for a reason. Anything that happens to you because you committed a crime is your own fault and your own problem.
And LR_Davius' post showed that it actually is unproportional, but towards whites, not blacks. His quote specifically:
They already are held accountable for their actions, but being police officers, they are allowed to use deadly force when dealing with someone committing a crime. It's not like they just walk up to random people in the street and shoot them, they shoot people who are actively committing a crime and may have a weapon. If someone does something that looks like reaching for a gun, you're not going to wait and see if it's a gun or not, you're going to try to stop them from using it.

No one??? They're scholarships, often made by minorities themselves to support their own and encourage them to pursue higher education. I've been looking at scholarships too, and the entire point of them is to provide financial assistance to those who really need it. Minorities (using this term literally) includes those who have it a bit harder because of who they are. There are scholarships for everything. You can get a scholarship for being left handed, LGBT+, your race/ethnicity, your location, your parent's educational background, clubs you participated in, community service, EVERYTHING. What do you mean "scholarships the school offers" ? The vast majority of scholarships are online, you have to look for them there. I feel like you've got limited knowledge about scholarships, but as a senior it's all everyone was doing and talking about. Senior year is scholarship culture.
Voter photo ID laws? Mandatory Minimum sentencing? The mere fact that nearly every officer involved in the high-profile police killings like Michael Brown or Tamir Rice were found "not guilty" ? Try again.
Cops aren't called because you're likely to be killed for just calling the cops. Or, as stated, they take little care when handling black individuals.
Your own fault and your own problem?? COPS AREN'T JUDGES. They have to follow the laws and go through proper channels too. Like you said, LAWS ARE THERE FOR A REASON. Theft =/= Death sentence.
When whites are killed unjustly, the cop is handled appropriately, the same can not be said when it was a black individual.
No they are not? They rarely even get administrative leave, which is often paid leave, much less a sentencing of any kind. Officers aren't allowed to use deadly force whenever they want to, only when it's impossible to handle the situation any other way. For christs sake, they killed a 93 year old woman. They killed a 12 year old. They routinely kill teenagers. They go through training to be able to diffuse these situations without taking a life, but yet feel less of an urgency to not kill black people. Are trained professionals really incapable of bringing these people in alive? They use unnecessary violent force when bringing them in, like Mario Woods, who was SURROUNDED by cops and no less than slaughtered by them. What crime was he currently committing? Was he really a danger to those cops? Was Tamir Rice really a danger? Michael Brown? Samuel Dubose? Would you like the complete list?

    Not race related at all
    Not race related at all
Cops that shoot white people are found not guilty too.
You have to compare statistics between races, not just look up statistics about black people.
If you're getting mugged and the cops come, they shoot the mugger, not you. Your evidence is the stories of 6 individuals, 4 of whom were killed as collateral damage of the people the cops were trying to shoot. 6 people is in no way representative of the overall population. You're not likely to be killed for calling the cops, there is a very small chance that a cop will kill someone by mistake.
They are following the laws, the laws say that cops can use deadly force if they believe it is necessary based on the situation they are in.
Yes, but Theft+Pointing a gun at a cop=Cop is allowed to shoot.
You have no proof, there are no accounts of cops being given worse sentences for killing white people than killing black people. You're just attempting to warp facts to fit your own worldview, in which all cops are evil racist and all blacks are horribly oppressed.
Teenagers with guns, that could kill the cops. And it's not "routinely", twice a year is not that often. Its relatively rare.
Imagine you're a cop. Two black men robbing a store pull guns out and take aim at you. What other way is there to handle the situation but to shoot back? Ask nicely?
Cops kill more white people than black people, get that through your thick, Tumblr-filled skull.
He stabbed someone, it says so in your news story.
Yes, he had a gun and could have shot them.
That's a list of three people. There are 300 million people in America. One hundred-millionth of the population is hardly an adequate sample size.

I agree with the quote you presented.

In the case of my friend, I do not agree with his anger. His cousin carried a firearm, and when confronted by police, he refused to drop it, posed a threat and was killed. All it would've taken to prevent that tragedy is don't commit the crime, and drop the gun and submit to the police.

This is the main issue I have with most of your examples of where police are supposedly let off easy for their crimes. If a police officer feels his life is in threat he/she should be allowed to take action. Your examples even say that grand juries (neutral parties) did not convict the officers in some circumstances, and did when it was necessary. Just because a white cop shoots a black person =/= racism.

Voter ID laws.... You've got to be kidding. These laws exist to prevent people from committing voter fraud, not enslave the black population. In order to be eligible for food stamps or any other government programs you are required to show a valid ID. Why aren't food stamps racist? Why isn't social security racist?

The lowest federal mandatory minimum sentence for drug offenses is 5 years. In order to trigger that sentence you need around 220 lbs of marijuana. Roughly $800,000 worth in some areas. That obviously targets the impoverished black people.

Again, just because a white cop kills a black man IT DOESN'T MEAN IT WAS RACIALLY MOTIVATED. I'd suggest reading the transcripts of the courtroom proceedings in the case of Michael Brown as well as looking at the evidence presented by the prosecution and defense of the officer. I think you will come to the same conclusion as the jury.

Yes they need to follow laws, and when they don't they are punished. This is not to say that all cops make the right decisions, but that is left up to our Justice system that isn't perfect but works to the best of it's ability.

Theft =/= a death sentence. Refusing to drop a firearm, or threatening to shoot a police officer and reaching in your pocket may = a death sentence as it should.

    Citation please.

I can not speak to the specifics of EVERY case, and some are undoubtedly tragedies. Unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world, examples of injustice will occur, but it is more than unfair to take the unsupported position that this is because of "systematic" racism.

In a hypothetical situation, I could grant that every example you have brought up was unjust. That would still not prove your argument of racism. None of those cases proved in any way whatsoever that racism had any role to play.

Twice a year???? I give up on you. Also, the guy surrounded by cops "could have shot them" did you see the video? are you serious?

    :)

    The madness of mandatory minimums

Mandatory Minimum Sentencing and Black Males
You're refusing to see the overlaying problem, and see every incident as an outlier. But they all have the same theme. When a black is killed by the police, the person killed is immediately criminalized, to try and find some fault or reason for their death to be just. The public rallies behind the cop.

However, in every mass shooting committed by a white person, they're infantilized and are given special treatment. Need I bring this up.

It would be helpful if in responding to my points you don't just link a video of an unfunny media pawn who is a Jon Stewart wannabe who's only job is to spew hypocrisy and promote a political narrative.

I did not watch the whole video, because I do not care to spend 14 minutes of my time listening to John Oliver.

Again I ask, how is it racist to ask for valid ID before voting but not for food stamps or government subsidies? Without food stamps people could go hungry. Why don't you argue against that injustice since it has much more impact on the person.

I have spent about 100+ hours researching and arguing why we should abolish mandatory minimum sentences in the last three years. They are contrary to everything our justice system should promote. However, it is incorrect to use these as examples of systematic racism. They were not created to oppress the black community, they were created to show harsh punishments for harsh crime. (The majority have to due with drug trafficking not possession.) Mandatory Minimum sentences were created in 1790 and their purpose was to combat the increase in piracy in the early United States, and now they focus primarily on violent and nonviolent drug trafficking. Depending on the area, they are given to mostly blacks and Hispanics because the fact is blacks commit more drug crimes.

Immediately criminalized you say? I remember hearing about the shooting of a black Muslim man (25 years of age I believe) by federal agents. This man was carrying a large military knife and had intentions to behead a cartoonist in the area as well as kill police officers. He charged them and was shot. The media called this man a "boy" who had "just graduated" and was a "student who was gunned down in the streets" and said things like "being black is a crime in this country, but being a black Muslim is a death sentence." I guess you can say he was immediately decriminalized. The same can be said about Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, etc. No matter if their killings were justified or not, these people were what I would call as 'thugs'. Just take a look at any of their twitter profiles, their friend groups, or any of their public interactions with people.

    "in every mass shooting."

You should be smart enough not to use absolutes in such a broad topic like this because that statement is just wrong.

Voter fraud is so incredibly rare and the photo ID requirement was put in place by Mitt Romney's campaign to deter poor voters (majority black & hispanic) and it worked. They even admitted it. But it's still around?
Mandatory minimums were created (the ones I am currently referring to which are actually relevant to the current discussion) as a part of the "war on drugs" which disproportionately affect blacks and hispanics

"Systemic racism describes forms of racism which are structured into political and social institutions. It occurs when organisations, institutions or governments discriminate, either deliberately or indirectly, against certain groups of people to limit their rights."

aand there it is. "thugs". you don't value black lives and I don't wish to further any discussions with you :)

So food stamps and social security are systematically racist.

The majority of mandatory minimums were created in the 1980's after the death of Len Bias to combat drug traffickers. Again, in order to trigger a federal mandatory minimum sentence you need to be carrying hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of contraband. Oh wait nevermind they were created to enslave the black and hispanic populations.

I clearly don't value black lives which is why I would call myself a brother to three black teenagers who my family and I have let live with us after they were orphaned. You don't know me, don't accuse me of something as serious as that.

When the wild white guilt riddled liberal is presented with facts and doesn't know how to respond they throw out made up words and accuse you of racism. I love it.

I am happy to have this conversation end because you have not addressed any of my arguments, and now bring up ad hominems. All you seem to do is repeat what you have heard from other sources without having a critical or original thought of your own on the issues.

    You sound uncertain.
They're promoting division between races, particularly Black vs White, and thereby returning us to the post civil war era.

You like systemic racism? Sounds rather bad...

    Lol are you triggered?

So you're saying that since Blacks and Hispanics are more likely to commit drug-related crimes, the justice system is racist?
    --- Double Post Merged, Jun 5, 2016 ---
    Obviously.
