Breastfeeding in public

personally, i believe its fine, i know a lot of people would disagree, i don't believe its gross as it is just natural to breastfeed your baby.

 

that's what boobs are for and I don't believe people should be shamed for using them. there's commercials and huge posters and bulletin boards with boobs on them to sell products in almost every public setting and nobody minds then, so if u have a problem with breastfeeding in public you're cordially invited to physically fight me

 

Honestly, I think it's totally fine. While it may be disgusting to the people that are witnessing it, I don't think that it's gross to breastfeed a baby because it's natural. I totally agree why people would think that it's disgusting and should be done somewhere else, but people shouldn't be afraid or ashamed to do so. I never really had a opinion on this until now, but breastfeeding in a public shouldn't be taken harshly.

I understand that Mothers have to breastfeed their children. But I don't exactly enjoy seeing a Women's breasts on the bus. I have seen some horrible and strange things in my travels around my city, and other cities like NYC. You would think that women care about modesty and privacy. Seriously, there is a time and a place.

 

Well, the time and place is when your kid is hungry.

 

therefore you whip out your tit in public and let everyone watch as your kid drinks milk out of your nipple. If I were a women, I would much prefer to invest my money in a painful breast pump than let everyone see my surprise sacks.

 

I'm a dude, but I have children. Have you ever seen a breast pump work? They are not the best experience, and breastfeeding is the superior method to feed your kids vs formula. I honestly do not see the gross factor in this, if I were on a bus and a women is breastfeeding and I didn't want to see it - I simply wouldn't look at it, because eyes have this nifty option of looking elsewhere.

 

I am aware that breast pumps hurt, and I am aware that you have children(I'm sorry). I have seen women's breasts in public before. Even if you won't look, there are always people who will.

 

"Other people will look" is not a defense against public breastfeeding though. That lies purely between the woman, and the people looking. If she is not comfortable with people looking, then she can go to a more private area. But she should equally accept people looking and/or staring just as others should accept her ability to feed her child in public.

More-so, I think that women should be free to breastfeed where they want, as long as they do not have unreasonable expectations of society. If someone is looking, I don't feel they have a legitimate complaint against that, because they are doing it in public.

 

I mean it would be awkward just to whip out a tit out of nowhere lmaoo

But if the baby needs food sure I guess

I don't really know what to say cause I'm not a mother and I don't produce breastmilk

The argument of just don't look is a stupid one, if this was the case then you could argue ahhh yeah people can go nude if they want, "if you don't like it, don't look" (exaggerated but it gets the point across). However, with that out of the way I still believe women should be allowed to do it, but in my opinion, in the world at the moment many people would disagree as it is seen as something disgusting and taboo, however i think that a mother should be allowed to do whatever they see fit for their child's needs.

 

It is not a stupid argument, it's about accepting personal responsibility in your daily life. If you dislike something, then do not participate, but most people decide that if they dislike something, then they must work to shut it down regardless of other's opinions about it.

Anyway I was going to stay out of this conversation because personally I get upset easily so I know debates aren't my thing but here:

Let write this about men
I understand men don't like wearing shirts when it's hot. But I don't exactly enjoy seeing a man's bare chest on the bus. I have seen some horrible and strange things around my city, and other cities like NYC. You would think men care about modesty and privacy.
Because honestly for every woman you see breast feeding there is a dude shirtless. I didn't want to see his chest but I just have to live with it. Just like going to the doctor's it's irritating for you and your parents but you have to live with it because it makes you healthy! So much of your comfort relies on others discomfort, can't you just deal with this?

Look @XxGedaviaManxX , if the child was hungry and CRYING on the bus then people would give her worse looks, telling her to feed her child. Well she's one step ahead and doing it and guess what? Everyone still has a problem apparently.

 

It's almost like people don't wanna know the point of breasts in the first place. They lose all sexual appeal when there's an infant attached anyways.

Why can't people mind their own business and let people do whatever they want.
