A couple of months ago, I wrote a response for English class on the topic of Millennials. First, we had to watch a short youtube video by TheVlogBrothers titled; "Why the word 'Millennial' makes me cringe".

Watch the 3:45 minute video and then post your thoughts on whether or not Millennials are in fact under pressure from their elders. (Warning! The video is fast paced so listen carefully!)

Well, a millennial by definition is anyone born in the 80s or 90s. It's just a generation of people, such as baby boomers and Generation X. Boomlets are the newest generation for kids born 2000 and after.

Since millennials are the youngest generation of adults at the moment, old people see a reason to complain about them all the time.

I'm on the younger end of millennials. I only recently turned 18, and I can definitely see some of the pressures he's talking about.

People born around the turn of the millennium from early 1980's to late 2000's. It is another name given to the people born into Generation "y".

Just think about what it must have been like in the 50's. A HUGE percentage of people's fathers were ex-military. I know it had an effect on my dad's childhood (positive), by putting pressure (lol there's that word again) on him to be responsible, foster a work ethic, etc. I almost wish my parents had been harder on me as a kid, because now I have to make an extra effort to get/keep any sort of work ethic, and maintain my responsibilities.

And to speak about the OP...

I think our generation gets a lot of pressure from school. My parents were absolutely stunned by the workload I received from even elementary school (though they didn't let me know at the time. Be positive and all that), and highschool...

You know how that old joke goes...:
Freshman year: *extends hand for handshake* "Welcome to Highschool! :)"
Sophomore year *Yanks hand away* "Psych! HaHa, kill yourself"
Junior year. *slaps you on the back, [really] hard* "You're having fun, right?"\
Senior year:: "Haha, you made it! Now got to college!"

    *Cycle repeats*

All this to say: I feel like younger generations receive pressure from older generations to do better, and seeing as it was our parent's generation that pushed us into the digital age, and revolutionized just about everything... well, they set the bar pretty high.

Participation trophies are lame. Second place is just the first loser, so who cares if you came in 117th?
