I know this will sound toxic.

I want to discuss something with you all. Why does ambassadors have more powers then certain admins? I can understand that admins that just transferred to ambassador has powers. But if a ambassador has been gone for a long time and comes back, should that ambassador be able to boss around like a admin? To be honest i do not think so.

I might be a ignorant 19 year old kid that doesn't know anything about the admin rank and the high staff. But if a helper, mod, S-mod or admin is gone for a long time they get demoted for inactivity should it not be the same for ambassadors? Ambassadors are not staff members, that is what i have been told over and over. But even so they have OP and access to high staff chat channels and other staff perks/channels/communication systems/staff forums powers. Is this ok?

As i stated i might be ignorant and i might not know what i am talking about, so i hope that if you read this you will not tear me open like a present on Christmas eve. And one more thing i want to clarify i am BIASED when it comes to this because this pushed my resignation forward by 2 weeks.

As stated read this and you can also look at it as a simple way for me to get some of my anger out to the world

I feel divided upon the subject.
On the one side, ambassadors are respected retired staff, that had a huge impact on the server.
On the other side, they are, after all, retired staff, and shouldn't have more power than current admins.

I think they should be kept in staff circles, as their input can be invaluable, being old and experienced staff members, but maybe they shouldn't have staff perks? Idk

 

1. I don't know the answer to that question. They probably shouldn't, but I didn't invent Meepcraft.
It's a form of recognition, I presume, due to that they went above and beyond the call of duty as an administrator. However we all should know that you either are on board or you're not. There shouldn't be a middle ground. I don't know why there is, it's not my issue, and if I were to sincerely protest against it I wouldn't get anywhere either.
2. There's a classification of mentality that I call "admin fever." Any higher staff gets a little coockoo after an extended amount of time. This limit until fever is dependent on how long you can take it really, but all the same you can get crazy after so much of it. I don't blame them, since Ive been there and done that. The higher you get the harder it is, and that's difficult.
It may seem like a democracy, but really what Meepcraft has done is put itself in a position that only appears Democratic.
3. You're not immature for one thing.
Second is that you don't need a tag for us to appreciate you. The ambassadors are remembered for their rank. You, Paincake, will be remembered by me for your personality. I will give you all my diamonds, treasures, cookies, and money because love is better than any rank you could ever get.
I remember when you were not in the happiest states. I need you to know that no matter what you do, even if you murder someone, I'm willing to help you. Please, if there is a problem again, come find me.

You're asking the wrong people. If you want to rant on ts or talk to another staff member it's okay but this doesn't seem like your type of thread. /:

 

Ambassador should basically be helper, but admins/fuzzlr can ask them for their opinions on matters privately and the community can accept that they are knowledgable enough to help upper staff make decisions.

In no way are they actually staff anymore, they're just respected members of the community that used to be staff members.

 

Well, is it really necessary? Is it causing harm to the server or community for an inactive ambassador to come back and sill have OP? In my opinion, it doesn't, therefore it is something that would leave little positive impact on the community if it were changed. Although, it wouldn't negatively effect the server either, so I suppose your suggestion stands.

 

Your opinion is based on a players perspective. This thread was made by a player that was in high staff chat.

 

if they wanna be in staff circles, why dont they just apply for staff instead of having some weird rank that entitles them to everything

Seems kinda silly to let these people have op, be part of major decisions and not have to moderate just because they did good during their babysitting term however many years ago

For your question, dont know. Honestly ambassador is a rank I hate in the first place. ambassador is a unique rank that bends the rule of normal staff. They don't have staff responsibilities technically. They don't have to be at meetings or on.

I think ambassador was created for Cooleys as he was away for a large amount of time and often at that. He was constantly of help when he was here and, in my opinion, is a large reason Meep still exists. Therefore, we don't want to push out someone that is more than a potential asset to the server just because they cannot be active enough to hold a staffing position. Same for Diana. She wore out quickly with the workload, its more exhausting than you may think. She was basically the only admin for a while as Sjoe was away with his charity work. She worked her buns off even before admin. She personally whipped me into shape as the staff member I was. She single-handedly "mothered" us as staff members daily listening to our issues and teaching us the things we somehow couldn't manage to understand on our own. She is more than just a potential asset. I 100% support the ambassador rank for that reason.

Now, on my negative note (not yell at me), I do not understand why a few more of our amazing admins (who have left) have not also received this rank. Just to name a few: Sjoeppappentrap, SirrrPig, NasaPC, Deinen (maybe I can see this one with the abuse, sorry Deinen but still).. Maybe all of the perms they possess not make sense as every one of them are not going to come back and rock what they have, but the ones that will help, why not allow them to? If they were not demoted and have not done anything to harm the server, why would we not allow them to put in what they are willing to?

Just my thoughts..

 

Didn't diana get the rank first or did I miss something? I know cooleys got the rank because he did just as much work as an ambassador as when he was a staff member.
Not to be negative but I guess Nasa and Sirrr didn't inspire ambassador rank during their time. And Sjoe has been staff for so long he definitely deserves ambassador.


ambassadors don't just get to have fun with their perms, they actually do a lot of staff work. Which probably plays a role into who gets ambassador and who doesn't. Or at least that's my theory.
