Rly staff?

So I was in global chat like 15 minutes ago, and for whatever reason people (*cough cough* mirella *cough*) were saying random facts about sealife. I decided to input some of my extensive knowledge on the topic of giant squid, so I said in chat "Squid fertilize their eggs by injecting their mate with the suckers on their tentacle". I thought this would be a perfectly okay thing to say in chat, but it seems staff thought otherwise. I got a message from 2dawn2 saying "please don't talk about things like that in global". Really? This is what everybody means when they say staff is too strict about chat. You can't have a reasonable conversation without staff telling you to stop discussing things, because they might not be appropriate for some 7-year olds. I didn't even say anything explicit, like "sex" or even "reproduction" that some little kid might look up and see graphic things. I said "fertilize eggs", which little kids wouldn't understand or draw any meaning from.

Lighten up, staff.

Would the situation not have been avoided by you just not saying weird things in shout? I would've warned you too

 

Are you complaining that you couldn't share information about squid reproduction? That seems like a bit of a stretch

 

I'm not sure why ops quote is bad, or required any warning.

Seems a bit silly, and perhaps highlights why people complain about the strictness.

I don't understand how facts about squid reproduction are any different from facts about anything else.

 

Better then the 3 day bans that used to get handed out for saying "god damnit".
We've come quite far, squid tentacles, a warning? Seems fine to me.

Perhaps we would have more consistent chat moderation if people didn't make it so hard for new staff to make the right decision fear they incur the wrath of forum hate. Until the meepcraft rules are changed, it is dawn's job to enforce them to the best of his judgement.

Of course it's a learning experience and over no big deal. But he has to the fundamental right to complain in this situation, he is a customer.

If he is a customer then dawn is an employee. If that is the case, the issue should be taken up with the person who hires and fires via a pm or ts conversation, and not paraded in front of the store, thats just bad personal conduct.


My opinions in this thread don't stand for my views on how players should respond to larger injustices, say an actual one...
I'm just saying calling out staff in forums for warnings is just bottom of the bucket. We have a complains section he could of used if he truly felt wronged as a "customer".

I warned you, 3 times. If you don't listen to me, honetly you deserved it. It still counts as a sex ref. I did my job that I felt was right
Don't say things in chat that might be deemed inappropriate.
