As an American, would you bow?

Discussion in 'Debates' started by Ranger0203, Apr 25, 2016.

?

Would you, or should you, bow?

  1. Yes- Absolutely I would bow. I would respect that country's culture, and bow before royalty

  2. Maybe- Depends on the situation. If everyone else is bowing, or I feel I should, then yes

  3. No.

    Nobody is better than me.

That should go for everyone else. There is no greater person to you than you.

    Should I? No.

    Would I? Yes, probably.

There's a difference between asking if I should and asking if I would. The fact that someone is royalty doesn't make them better than me; therefore, I have no reason that I should bow to them. Bowing to royalty is, however, a part of the culture in many nations, so even though I have no reason that I should bow, that doesn't mean that I wouldn't do it anyway.

That's a bit troubling. What if I were a serial killer? Would you still say that nobody is a better person than I am?

I strolled along the streets of Dubai one afternoon, during Ramadan, eating a candy bar, so is that edgy/foreign enough?

For the uninitiated - Ramadan is a 30-day Islamic fast, with no food consumption during sunlight hours. Dubai is hip enough to allow infidels to pay their way to Hell and eat during the day, but doing so outdoors will get you arrested and confined for the rest of the fast.

It was less a political statement than a brain fart, but there ya go.
