should we (meepcrafters) do something about forum spammers

Also no, although pennies cost more than one cent to make, they've been an iconic part of America for decades, and I don't think that should change.

In Canada, we have had no penny for around 4 years now.
Honestly, each penny costs more than what it's worth, and it's completely pointless in my view.

Not only should we keep the penny, but we should get rid of everything else. The main resaon that this country is having economic problems is because of The Inflateion, which is caused by the evil demobrats that have infested the federal government to keep printing more large doller bills in order to destroy the middle class and make way for an evil gay muslom theocacy. additionally, this would have the added benefit of decreasing the amount of money poor millenials would have, which would further preserve the american dream.

Over the next decade, we will see a drastic decrease in the usage of common currency. Here are four innovations which have paved the way for this change in chronological order:

    Wire Transfer
The most primitive of the four innovations, a wire transfer is a "method of electronic funds transfer from one person or entity to another." Electronic transfers are used between banks to transfer funds, and these transactions are approved within a matter of days.

    PayPal
Founded by Peter Thiel, this company was one of the first to bring electronic payments to mainstream markets. PayPal was one of the first companies which enabled millions of instant monetary transactions to be made without the usage of physical currency. PayPal also introduced the concept of micro-transactions.

    Venmo
The popular smartphone app allows users to paying and charging their friends. Venmo's success is attributed to the fact that its just simply easier than any other medium of electronic payment. It also adds a social aspect to payments.

    Apple Pay
iPhone users will be able to store their credit and debit cards in an encrypted digital format within their device. In the future, to pay an establishment or even someone you just met, you will only need your handheld device (or wearable).

I live in New York and I usually go out without carrying any cash. Unless you are doing something illegal, I believe that physical currency is useless, especially when you can access the entire world from a device in your pocket.

Not just Apple pay. There are many other services with the same concept, including ones made by Google and Samsung. But Apple pay is much more advanced and supported by more retsilers, I believe.
Those services aren't too useful right now, mainly because they aren't usable for everyone yet, such as people out of the US.
I've never seen aa store that accepts Android pay where I live...

Yes. Pennies are a waste of medal. Make a 2 cent coin and move on.

That is exactly what an accomplice of the Zodiac Killer would say.

I went to denny's once once on the way to a backpacking trip with my Boy Scout troop... One of the dads payed for his breakfast (probably $30) with a $500 bill.

I still do not trust my money when it is digital for multiple reasons. One of my reasons is not being able to physically see it so I might impulse buy on accident and get myself in a debt rut, another reason is that it is actually really easy for internet hackers to steal your credit card information. My third reason is that there is nothing more satisfying then a pocketful of clinking coins when you walk into a gas station. That said, I would like to keep the penny in circulation but the government doesn't need to keep making them, they could just allow the already existing ones to keep moving around until they eventually are either stockpiled or lost.
