Make Meepcraft Great Again

Hello everyone. My name is jcbetro1011 otherwise known as jcbetro otherwise known as jcb otherwise known as jc otherwise known as j otherwise known as Girth Brooks otherwise known as Johnny Sins otherwise know as JUMBO C___ (Fill in the blank). Anyways, I used to invest my life into this server wayyyy back in 2012 when it was in its prime. Back when there was a player cap of 1000 for a reason. When I say I invested my life into this server that is an understatement. Like, I played this server until I looked like this:

I became a part of the staff serving as a Moderator, then SuperMod when the rank first came out. The experience was thoroughly enjoyable until I started to notice a sort of decline in the server. All of the wonderful staff members I remember playing with and even ones who weren't staff were all leaving the server only slowly start becoming replaced with an abundance of snotty little kids (which is understandable being that Minecraft is kind of a kids game) which is when the server started to become less of a towny/factions server and more of a minigame server. And it's all understandable why those changes were implemented to account for the rapid increase of players and the server was still fun, just not in its prime, but still very enjoyable.

Then the whole MeepNetworks thing happened as well and that too played a huge role in why a lot of great people left for good and never came back to meep as well as the downfall of a great server that had a lot of potential. Now I happened to stop playing before that whole fiasco but I still talked to people who were around for that and pretty much heard it all. Even that didn't change too much because then became the Meep Revolution or whatever tf they called it. Around this point the server had pulled my interest back in because this is when everything seemed to come back to the way it used to and I figured I would on Meep again and regain the fun that I used to have back when I enjoyed playing. So I did and I indeed had a lot of fun and met some new players as well as played with others who returned from 2012 meep. The teamspeak was implemented and started to become used a lot and it was a fantastic addition to the server. So that was all fun until I slowly lost interest in minecraft itself and started to focus on school and other things in life as I grew older.

After like a 2 year hiatus from meepcraft I decided to come back recently and pop in the teamspeak or actual server every once and awhile and I have to say what the H-E-Double Hockey sticks (because I'm sure I'd get a warning for saying the word I really want to say) has happened to this place? I think if other old members from back in the day had come on here and saw what has happened they would have the same reaction as I do. After recently coming on the server/forums/teamspeak I can say this server has reached an all time low both in player count and in quality of the individuals in the current community that I have met. I've probably seen some of the most toxic, stuck up, annoying people I have ever seen lurk the internet on this server. I have seen this servers ups and downs but this is really depressing to see what this server has come to. I have thought of some things that this server needs to change in order to be as amazing as it used to be:






1.) The Spawn

So after actually coming onto the server itself, I have noticed that the spawn looks like it's supposed to hold thousands of people, but seeing that there are only like an average of 50-100 people on a day the spawn is just way too big. Now size of course doesn't matter , but in this case it actually does. I think the spawn needs to be changed ASAP. I can certainly speak for many players saying that some of the old spawns were so much better.

I know a lot of people miss the classic hub styled spawn from 2012:

I like the idea of reverting back to this spawn or at least something like this. This spawn had it all and it was fit for the player count that it held at the time. Everything was close to eachother, the shop was pretty nice, the donator lounge was pretty cool, the Terrarium/Dungeon was an extremely fine addition to the underground area of the spawn and it was just convenient.

2.) Unfit Staff Members

Not everyone in the staff is guaranteed to be fit for the position no matter how good their application is and that has been proven many times before on this server. Many people have been staff on here before and have made many poor decisions. I've had many experiences where I've been unfairly treated by staff member due to biased decisions and I'm sure many others have as well. More recently I've noticed many staff members who just act robotic. Back when I was a staff member I made sure that I treated everybody fairly and gave everyone a chance. Some staff nowadays just give robotic responses such as "If you don't like it you can make a post on the forums" which basically translates to "I don't have time to deal with this, just put time and effort into a post that we will probably look at for two seconds and deny anyways." As if they have so many other people to deal with on a server that generates less than 100 players a day. We need a staff that genuinely cares about each player and provides natural responses and can tolerate even the most ridiculous requests of players, because that is how the staff used to work.

3.) Keeping the Server "PG"

I know that this has been argued many times before that the server is way too kid-friendly. But it's ridiculous that even a word such as "teet" has to be censored in chat (I know this only because I've tried to say "BTeets" in chat before). There's not much to say about this topic that hasn't already been said before. But I just feel that it is a bit too much to be so strict about it when there really is a lot worse on the internet for a kid to read.

4.) Combining Towns A and Towns B

So, the only reason the Towny world was split was because of the fact that there were too many players. Now that problem doesn't really apply anymore so I feel that both A and B should be combined into one again if that's even possible.

5.) Toxic Players

Toxic players have always existed on this server but I've noticed that the community has been flooded with a lot more than there used to. I won't go an mention any names because I'm sure some of you notice it too. What I mean by toxic is basically people who just simply have a stick up their butt. People that can't take sarcasm or people that get defensive about everything to the point where they are enraged. I've also noticed many people on the forums and on teamspeak just get mad by even the slightest thing and people like this are just all over the internet but I just see a lot of it on here than what I am used to and it kind of makes the whole player base obnoxious.





I mean those are just some of my suggestions to make this server live up to it's potential and prevent it from going extinct. I'm just kind of mad that I put more effort into this than pretty much any paper I've had to do in college but whatever. I'm sure many of you agree with some of these points and I'm sure a lot of you have some fine suggestions so feel free to include them in the comments. That's just my 2 cents coming from someone who has been on the server for 4 years.

I remember you. These suggestions are great, but how would a merger (#4) between a and b work? we'd have to reset towny, and if that happens you better be ready for a ****storm.

I mean, maybe the towns who are still active can be asked to be like world edited in to the more popular Towns world and there can be a period of time this is done until everyone is satisfied.

Spawn from 2013 was completely fine, easy to navigate, not too big, was simple and it accommodated a 1000 player count without being too cluttered. IMO it was probably the best spawn we had.

 

I've only been here since August 2013, but out of all the spawns I've been in until now, I'd have to agree that the 2013 spawn is the best.
Overall, I agree with pretty much everything you said but some of them probably aren't going to be fixed any time soon, like the toxic parts of the community.

I really want the 2013 spawn back. I loved every bit of it, and I wish for it to come back.

About the Keeping it PG thing, kids really need to learn how to deal with the words said to them. I've read every denied player report on the forums, and some of them just make me laugh so much. Players have been reported for saying "damn" and "hell", scamming when already refunded, constant arguing about a resolved issue, unnecessary defense, troll reports, etc. I'm pretty sure most players here can agree with me on that.

Combining Alpha and Beta is honestly a good idea, but how is that going to work? Is the land going to be the same? How will the towns be able to expand or have a barrier?

Toxic players... I could rant on this for a long time... Basically one of the toxic players that has made a big appearance on the server is xSuper25 aka @Billybob12. Now, I understand that he's 10 years old, and boys mature slower than girls. But one of the main pieces to why there's so many snobby children on Minecraft is because being on computers changes your attitude to certain things. I can prove this because my brothers all play on Kindle Fire tablets almost every day for more than two hours. Usually, they play up to five-eight hours on the weekends. My 9 year old brother has a changed attitude because of being on his tablet for so long, that he threw his tablet across the room and broke his headphones because his tablet died. That's just a few of the many examples that I've seen for the past two years.

I agree with three of the five parts to your "suggestions". The two I'm really unsure about is combining Alpha and Beta and Unfit Staff Members. I'll come up with something for those later.

I liked old spawn too! The 2013 version, really. These are really great suggestions @jcbetro! This is very true, really everything you said.

 

I think combining towns A and B is a bad idea because the land of Alpha is just generally messed up. Meanwhile Beta has some amazing landscapes that would be ruined if we just world edit the town into another area. We would need to actually fuse the worlds, which would create enormous amounts glitches. In addition, if one towny world crashes for a few minutes, you can generally go to the other to work. If there was only one world, we'd lose all towns for the time it's down.

Other than that, I agree there are some pretty toxic players.
I cannot say the staff we have are "bad" because I am yet to have a negative experience with any current or former staff member.
In case you were unaware, there is a modified version of the spawn from 2012 under development.

 

Good idea but this should probably have been put in suggestions. Then it will have had more consideration out into it. I agree with most of what you said, combining towns will be impossible without deleting one of the worlds. A lot of people would probably quit. Best is to keep it as it is, just incase we ever do get 1000 people again. If this was a suggestion I woulf give +1.

 

These types of threads are made weekly, what's the point?
1.They'll never revert back to any spawn because these new spawns cost M O N E Y S and they won't simply get rid of it.
2. Most of the current staff members I've talked to are great, and if certain staff isn't good, there's always the admins who can make the decision to demote and such.
3. I agree with you on this, as many others, however I think it's been made perfectly clear to us that this will never change, I do however support that there are some unnecessary words censored, a personal favorite of mine being "KKK"
4. I'm not sure how this works, but I think you'd have to get rid of all the current towns and make a single towny server, in other words, not happening.

I think that if we combine alpha and beta together, the land will be immensely crowded, therefore having no room for new towns, therefore leading to citizens being let down becuase they wanted to build a town, leading to them quitting, leading to a loss of players, leading to a less vibrant community, leading tO MEEPCRAFT BEING NOT POPULAR GSDUCJOIWR<G
