We need to talk about spawn.

I can see how the new spawn seems more functional, but really, wasn't our last spawn just as functional with the three warp areas: Towny, Sandbox and Arcade?

Honestly, that system was ten times easier to understand and put towny as the main focus of the warp area. Now towny has to share tiny, one block portals with so many other warps, all of which are dwarfed by the god damn airship!!

I agree with Chaos that our 2013 spawn was the best we ever had, we should re-use this one, except have our own arch team (not some other group of builders who will charge us $3000) update it with new blocks, gamemodes, etc.

 

I don't care about spawn, I'm never there.

But for new players, I think it's ok. It's got all the game modes in one area right where you spawn. It doesn't matter whether or not each game mode has it's own hub or not. I think it's actually better the bank and such have hubs compared to Towns. It's how most players make money, and why does towny even need it's own hub? When you go in the first time it takes you to the spawn area.

In conclusion, I think it's good the way it is. Don't change it. It cost $3,000. It's worth more than most of us here.

 

K so if someone sold you a half-eaten, stale bag of chips for $500, would you eat it? Remember, you can look inside the pantry and grab a new bag of chips for free.

Just because the server overpaid for a crappy product doesn't mean we should keep it. We have a great team of architects who care about the community and can build things for free.

 

1st off, great example. 2nd. I'm not saying we keep it forever, if we did, that would be bad. It's ok, not great, not good, but it's ok. and since it's $3,00, let's at least keep it for a bit.

If the $100 watch was better, sure! I'd be a bit sad that I spent so much money on the bad $3000 watch, but in the end, the quality of my watch matters most to me, not the price tag.

 

Now are you talking about Nuketown2025 or Nuketown 3.0 (probably this one.) If Cod wasn't all about exo-suits / futuristic anymore, nuketown would still be pretty good.

This isn't even trying to be a spawn, right when you log in there are already warps right in front of you that will take you wherever you want to go. (Like a hub server) I really don't understand what this spawn is trying to be, but I know for sure that it isn't player friendly.

The only thing I saw that was kind of cool, was the mob dungeon (the lower you go, the more dangerous it is) but, I forgot where that wise anyways since this spawn is only one color. Horrible for people with full bright on.

 

This is just like anything. It could be a watch, food, pencils, some software on your computer.

Do you not like the top brand of colored pencils, but you prefer dollar store ones? Use dollar store pencils!!
Do you dislike Photoshop, but love this free software? Use the free software!

Just because we paid a lot for a bad-quality item does not mean we are forced to use said bad-quality item or even a high quality item that is simply not enjoyable to use.

 

What if the $3,000 watch was made of nickel, and you have a nickel allergy? Would you keep wearing it, knowing that it's the cause of your swelling, and realizing that if you wear another watch, the reaction would disappear?

Remember, the crappy spawn isn't a matter of preference; on the contrary, it's actively driving people away from the server.

does anyone know a formal reason why we dont use the 2nd spawn that everyone in this thread/ever likes?

The official reason, I believe, is something along the lines of: "As the server grows bigger, we must have a bigger spawn to accompany it. A small spawn would not befit the server."

I suspect the real reason behind that is the constant need for novelty.

I'm just gonna say that I logged in today after the last horrid spawn and this one is also horrid.

The older spawn from 2013ish wasn't "pretty" but it was actually functional.

Personally, I'm FAR newer to the server than any of you guys. So I have only seen the current and the last one used. I like the idea of the current, but just not implemented very well. I know it especially drives our resident architects insane to deal with such a sad spawn. It's like a master builder having to walk by their town's dirt shack spawn every day, and they can't change it. So, they leave the town to find a better spawn!

I don't think that is accurate. The new spawn, as Fuzzlr said, is actually simple, and easy to use.

 

I just don't like the new spawn. It just doesn't suit the server whatsoever.
