How does this even make remote sense, staff?

I've given up on you and your (lack of) reasoning, and sorry I'm probably not the first one to.
If you'd taken the time to read instead of probably trying to find the porn link of that man previously discussed, and do with it what you would have, you'd be able to see that my post included reasons of yours.

A valid reason, nonetheless, so I see that there's at least a tiny bit of method to your madness.

 

Holy hell everyone. I think it's best if we restart this thread with more positive attitude, logic, and reason than whatever that monstrosity is up there.

Now I'm going to head back to the sidelines, where I belong.

 

It is also not hard to send the link in /mail or on forums.

 

This thread has gotten way out of control. The original suggestion was this "There's no reason it should be there and it makes links with repeating capital letters not work."
Staff feel as if allowing caps would lead to inappropriate links being msg'd to other players, spam, and advertising issues. Although we try our best to moderate the server we can not catch everything and not everyone reports players.
I have been staff for 4 months and I can tell you I already get plenty of modreq's about swearing in msg. I personally do not feel the need to add to msg issues as staff are very busy the way it is and there is absolutely no reason for an entire staff just to moderate chat just so you can add caps to your msg's.
You argue that if people abuse the caps rule then it can be reported. What is the difference in you sending mail or starting a conversation on forums to send links or you going on forums to report players?
The whole argument for allowing this is to send staff links, well there are already ways to send these links without allowing caps in msg. /mail will allow you to send a link to others as well as starting a conversation on forums.
The server has more important issues to take care of at this time and there is no need to spend Dblo's time on such a small thing when there are much bigger issues for him to deal with.
Would you rather have caps in msg or minigames and towny that work properly? Dblo is very busy and to ask him to take time for something so petty instead of spending time on important aspects of meep is senseless.
The original suggestion itself held no validity and in my opinion should have never even made it to trello in the first place.
Now I know you all think that this is important but I would rather tell you that it is not being implemented at this time then leave it sit in trello for the next year untouched.
If you feel this strongly about it you are more than welcome to suggest it again in the future, but I highly suggest adding valid points as to why it would benefit the server.

 

Never said anything about a porn link. My main point is this is useless and no reason to even argue it. It's for self moderation due to past experiences. Nonetheless in an innocent way it seems as caps and links would be acceptable, but it's to stop the ones not intended that way to me automatically moderated. Plus the plugin itself goes chat wide and staff are the only ones exempt. Probably wouldn't hurt to enable it yeah, but to blow it this far out of proportion is utterly unnecessary. So I can agree both sides might have valid arguments, but for it to come to this is stupid.
