On another server I play on they use a mob stacking plugin, which reduces lag all while having lots of mobs 'stacked'. I've seen 100+ mobs stacked it works perfectly. This other server relies on a lot of grinding so a lot of people use grinders.

Basically mobs of the same type that spawn in close proximity stack together, and the quantity is displayed. Upon slaying the mob, the number of mobs in the stack will drop by 1, and drop full look at XP as if a normal mob had been killed.

Check out the bukkit page on it. http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/mobstacker/

sounds like a very cool and efficient plugin. +1

The devs/techs can set which mobs can be stacked. So sheep, pigs, cows, wolfs, cats, bunnies and possibly chickens wouldn't stack.

Cool and fun idea.. but not sure if it's that necessary..
Could you explain more on how this works? I'm still confused

Basically, the mobs would stack to 1 "entity" and you could have a stack of 100+ mobs with no lag. Say you have 33 zombies stacked, kill one and the number above the zombie would go down to 32 then 31.. etc.

It would make it easier for people to grind without a mod spawn limit.

+1, but definitely don't make chickens an exception, so chicken machines can be a thing again.

Why not enable player stacking in spawn? Right click on a player to stack them, left click to throw.

I'm not sure how breeding would work, I know you can set it to stack babies.

Chicken machines usually work by breaking eggs, because egg-firing from a dispenser can be automated, but breeding cannot. So, no worries there.

Is that the same plugin? I thought this was just for 1 mob to be equal to 15 mobs (if they stacked inside each other)

    +1
This would be great, of course, then there would be more competition for the kill in grinders :p
