i like to say stuff, still after all that story that doesn't really explain the point. I may be rude etc, but your argument still doesn't make any type of sense considering that most people don't go down and gun down elementaries.

You want overblown? Ok, I understand Sandy Hook and Columbine, except for the fact that every shooting is brought up like it's the end of the world.

I'm not relying on personal attacks I'm relying on assumption, my argument is still true eitherway even if I'm wrong about his background mate.

Uh, no. Shootings get massive attention if they fit a particular narrative. So, for instance, if a white cop shoots an unarmed white kid, that doesn't neatly fit into any narrative, and so: http://www.latimes.com/nation/natio...mmond-police-shooting-20150804-htmlstory.html

If nobody dies, that also kills national interest: http://www.nola.com/crime/index.ssf/2015/12/san_bernardino_shooting_1.html

There are lots of other reasons. For instance, if the victim had a long rap sheet, nobody cares. For the great many homicides that happen within families, there's a brief story, and the media moves on. The media is all about sensationalism, and it's a sad commentary on the state of affairs that these other kinds of stories are commonplace.

Now let's look at statistics. Over 11,000 people die each year to guns in the US. You can compare that with other countries and see the difference. My concern isn't guns in particular. My concern is the fact that Congress is doing absolutely nothing to fix this problem. We could be working together to do simple increasing in background checks, but they throw the issue out of proportion and assume we want to ban all guns. These 'random shootings' happen quite often. They shouldn't happen in the first place.

Nope. Some people contend that it doesn't protect individual rights, and all it takes is a left-leaning supreme court, and boom, no more constitutional right to bear arms (note, the goes for all weapons, not just guns. They had the foresight to include this, in case something better than guns is invented).

I'm with you 100% on this one.
Haha lol. Gun restrictions, magazine limits, etc. etc.
In the U.S.? Lol nope. That's the number for all homicides. That's 1/3rd as many as there were automobile caused deaths in 2014.

Quite frankly, I'm not sure it is.

Technically it was... For a lot of people...

The way I see it, bad people will always find a way to get guns. If you take protection away from good people, the bad will still get guns. Although, you know that even criminals follow laws... that's why no gun zones are such a huge success!

IF you count the 21000 suicides, then yeah, you could say that. It seems to me that the bigger problem isn't guns, it's people wanting to kill themselves. Maybe we should try and fix that first?
I love the quotation marks, as if it's all a giant conspiracy. Face it, they are actually very rare. There are thousands of schools in the U.S., and only a handful of shootings you actually hear about every year.

If you have a proposed course of action, I'd like to hear it.

Even a left-wing Supreme Court would never do this... The second amendment is pretty clear as to not make it so guns are banned.

Fact check yourself. It's 11,000 for gun violence. 16,000 for all homicides. The majority of homicides are by firearm. :)
    Actually, don't check yourself. Here's a link from a government website. http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/homicide.htm

How the hell would counting 21,000 suicides result in the number being 11,000. My number is homicide only. Suicide rates might not decrease, but homicide rates would. We can try and fix suicide rates, but that won't happen through gun laws. It's a different topic. Why would we ignore topic A because topic B may pose a bigger threat when you can fix them both through different means?

National regulation on guns. Same rules for every state. It's radical, yes, but it would work. Everyone would go through the same process to own a gun, and nobody would jump city and/or state lines to obtain them more easily. The fact that people can jump the city lines of Chicago and easily buy guns in the nearby suburbs disgusts me. Everyone should have the same amount of opportunity to buy a gun regardless of where they live.

Sorry I wasn't clear. What I meant was all homicides with a firearm, and my point was that not all homicides are mass shootings.

Bad people won't always find a way to get guns, because the harder it is to get them, the more bad people will fail in their efforts. As it is, they're getting them all too easy. The San Bernardino shooters and the Columbine shooters got their guns through straw buyers. The guy who shot up Sandy Hook borrowed them from his mom's collection. The guy who shot up Virginia Tech bought his weapons legally, despite documented mental health issues. Easy peasy.

I like how when there is a shooting, everyone points to the gun, but when there is a stabbing, people don't point to the knife. Also, buying an illegal gun is as easy as downloading Tor and visiting sites you shouldn't. Same with drugs and cp, but that's another topic. Trust me on this though, if someone broke in, I would feel a damn lot safer with a pistol than a knife or bat, and I'm sure that even you can say the same thing!

Most of the police here in the UK survive and effectively do their jobs wth just batons and we don't have regular shootings, which use guns. The last time we had a serious shooting incident with lots of people was the Dunblane school massacre in 1996 after gun controlwas passed and he have greatly reduced gun crime. I don't see why you would not implement gun control.

Just realised I voted for no gun Control by mistake oops

Taking away America's guns would be like taking a new born baby away from it's mother, don't like guns, come live with me in Australia we have loving 5 bar meepcraft connection. My point is wherever you go there is gona be some problems and tbh you can't take away guns from America so just make sure you have necessary self defense in maths class and you'll be fine

I don't think that people should be saying that America should have gun control similar to other countries. America's gun situation is different to other countires so why should they treat the issue of gun control the same as well?

I think that America should have some sort of gun controlling system, but I don't think that they will ever be able to have a system like that of other countries.

    As TechnoTyson said:
You just can't take America's guns away. People would riot.

Look at the death tolls for mass shooting events versus mass stabbing events.

Only because, in the US, guns are everywhere. I've already discussed how it's even easier than that. The point is, in countries where guns aren't everywhere, it's mighty difficult to get an illegal firearm.

Except when the person has you at gunpoint before you can reach your weapon. A stealth entry or a blitzkrieg entry will do the job.

Also, if I don't have a pistol, there's zero chance I end up plugging my child for trying to sneak in after curfew. Statistics say you are far more likely to harm someone you care about than to use it for protection.

Most people don't get this... The U.K. is an island, and doesn't have an open border with gun-ridden Mexico.
    See above.

You'd actually have to look at homicide rates to compare them accurately, and you know what they say "Don't bring a knife to a gunfight."

Ranger there was never any point making this thread if you intended to be stubborn and ignorant.

Literally all this thread is is you, Ranger not accepting or respecting other people's opinions. You're literally just contradicting any anti gun people and it doesn't help anyone. Never a bad thing to say sorry.

But it's not even that Mexicans are bringing guns over the border because I'm sure they are, inevitably there will be. However as you can buy guns completely legally in shops in the US therefore making the guns coming in from Mexico not a valid point, in my opinion

If the police had to stop worrying about mass shootings near on daily (in a world of gun control) then they could focus their efforts elsewhere, the Mexican border perhaps

If you're from a country other than the USA, Shut up.

Nextly, Guns don't kill people any more than knives, bombs, pills, or drugs.

Nextly, Guns ARE for protection. Not necessarily for people breaking into my home, but when I walk outside to take the trash out, I risk bears, coyotes, wolves, ect. (Yes I live in a very wooded area).

To those using statistics. Read them instead of assuming and making a fool of yourselves. When you read about deaths per year via gun, This includes Gang violence, Suicide, and ACTUAL PROPER USE OF DEADLY FORCE. Stop being dumb.

My guns name is Beretta. Shes killed no one. I've treated her pretty well but some days I get mad and don't clean her. I might yell in front of her and say rude things, but shes never killed anyone. I dont know why. I trust she wont. I leave her with bullets too!!! I like to live dangerously But I dont think shes gunna sneak out.
