I watch a Youtube series called "CodeMENT", which is fron that anime. It's hilarious.

If you really want to watch something funny, watch Yugioh abridged by Little Kuriboh. The quality at first is poor, but it gets better later (It's also hilarious)

I'll throw "Berserk" into the ring.

A rare anime where aspects of the world seem logically consistent. Bloody cool scenes in it too.

"I want to defeat the bad guys and sacrifice my friends and family to beat the baddies, hehe!"

No. Get out. Berserk is REAL, son.

[WARNING: Seriously 'Not Safe For Life' description of the starting lore below]

So, the leading protagonist (Guts) is born from his mother's hanging corpse, following a brutal massacre. He's taken into a mercenary group, where (eventually) the camp whore adopts him as her own. She dies to the plague 3 years later. The leader of this group becomes his adoptive father, but treats him awfully. Bullying him senseless. Mocking, bullied, abused by the men around him (I mean, he's just a kid). He starts learning how to fight at the age of 6. Picking up swords WAY too big for his size (which explains his ability to pick up HUGE swords in later life). He kills his first man at age 9. After he killed his crazed adoptive father in self-defense, he eventually found his way into a new group. Learning comradery and friendship. He played a part in ending a 100 year war. Turns out, the leader of this new group double-crossed everyone. Mercilessly slaughtering all of Guts' friends in front of him. He was then pinned down, and forced to watch his girlfriend raped in pools of his friends blood. Forced to cut off his own arm just to escape. He seeks revenge for these injustices against him.

He wields a huge sword because he was trained to use regular sized swords at such a young age. There's no armour boosting strength upgrades. It's believable. Heck, it's only slightly longer than the largest sword that humans have ever used.

His motives are also believable. No doubt if the above happened to us, we'd all be crazy. Blinded by rage and bloodlust. It's easy to see why Guts would go out of his way to kill these demons.

Special equipment? Well, he does have some bad-ass armour that shuts off his nervous system to make him immune to pain. Again, no magical BS. A reasonable explanation as to why he can take so much punishment.

The only suspension of disbelief you need, is that there's an alternative realm of existence, an astral plain. Demons, ghosts, evil stuff, etc. But they act in the way that you'd expect.

I've only read up on the lore and seen a couple of episodes, but I already love it. And I hope others do too.

It also inspired 'Dark Souls'/'Demons Souls'. Which, ya know, are awesome.

Definitely Hunter x Hunter. The plot, characters, soundtrack - everything is the best and works together so nicely. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.
