To Get Along With All Ranks

*THERE IS A REASON THIS IS NOT IN SUGGESTIONS, AND THAT IS BECAUSE VERY FEW PEOPLE ACTUALLY LOOK AT THEM. I WOULD LIKE THIS TO BE LEFT HERE SO MORE CAN SEE.*

Alright, so there has been a lot of discussion going around about ranks and rankism as of late.

This is mainly with cits and the fact that nobody really gives a crap about them ignores them. (Be honest, 95% of people just do not care)

One one thread I posted a possible solution to this predicament and it got a decent amount of likes, so that leads me to believe that this would be generally accepted by meep.

Anyway, so lets get on with it after all of that briefing. What I propose is that we have a rank for citizens, which says Citizen or Experienced or whatever. They get this rank after playing for a certain amount of time, for this example lets say 24 hours. They will also have to have a specific amount of money, for this I will say around 25k+. The rank will have a minor perk, like an additional sethome or access to a citizen lounge or something. This would give citizens incentive to play more, while giving people with ranks a reason to trust the citizens. Hence, nobody gets bored. Usually what ends up happening is that a cit plays for a little bit, has a super hard time on meep, and then decides to just leave.

Moving on to the second part, which is that rankies can now trust the cits more. It is natural to be suspicious about a person selling you things that has only been on for a couple of hours and doesnt know the rules. With the addition of the rank, rankies can trust the cits more because they know that they care enough to play on meep for that amount of time. This would also filter out some of the scammers, because they would have to play for 24 hours just to scam somebody.

In conclusion, the cits get incentive to play more (adding to the number of votes and players we have) and the rankies get along with them. This will hopefully make meep a more friendly place once again.

Maybe it would be possible to stop the timer while they're afk?

If you give all the citizens [Admin], people will still start ignoring them. The problem isn't that people don't care about citizens, it's that there's so many of them, and no one knows them. There have been plenty of examples of citizens who were never ignored, and that is because they got themselves out there.

 

I'm gonna say the same thing as I said on another thread.

Citizens are not ignored because they are citizens, they are ignored because they are not well known.

There are several people who were popular as citizen. Look at Tomrex and Forte. They were both citizen, Forta especially recently, and both very popular in the community.

If I were to go onto my supreme alt account I'd be ignored as much as a citizen. Because no one knows who brownie000 is. Brownie000 is no popular or well known. Muunkee is.

It's not about rank. It was never about rank.

 

That's not really the point. It's not just a name, it's the ability for rankies to trust the cits based on the fact that they played long enough and put enough effort into getting that rank. If they are making a deal with a cit, they will have more trust for them based off of the rank.

And in reply to that I will say that not everyone has the time to be super well known like that, the majority of people just don't play that often. It would be really difficult to have a list of top 10 most popular citizens, now wouldn't it?

Also, the rank is more for rankies to trust the citizens in transactions and being friends with them. If they were to spend that much time and effort on meep, they would be much less likely to try and scam people. And a bonus is that this trust can lead to friendships with citizens and them slowly becoming more important to us.

Guys, I am an example of this. In meep around 3 years ago, I was a cit for a long time, and nobody really paid that much attention to me. Keep in mind I was one of the more popular cits, but when I became a vip I really took off. I was the richest vip and I had loads of friends. The rank helped in trust and friendship building, which made me an active member of meep for a long time. What I'm saying is that this can be replicated without money, which the majority of people are not willing to spend on a minecraft server.

 

@Muunkee - Alexia I think she's right but I also think that having a rank also gives you a significant boost in popularity. This idea is very interesting, mostly because I myself am biased against citizens (Not including my rankism jokes). I feel that if you're a citizen you're either new or don't play often. So knowing this I usually treat them as if they're new. However, as a citizen I was able to get a little recognition, (partly thanks to @Perfectly <3). This was because of my "sxc" builds according to Imperfectly. After that point I got a little recognition and wasn't ignored for the most part when I said, "Doing builds /msg me" or something similar.

The truth of the matter is that citizens are ignored. Whether you like to acknowledge it or not, in global or just in game in general, citizens are treated as less. Honestly, its kind of appalling. So I try to do my part if nobody is helping them already. I know it is sometimes frustrating explaining stuff to citizens, but just look back at when you were a citizen. All of this had to be somewhat frustrating and confusing. Its like giving a 5 year old a dictionary and saying, "Learn this". If we all as a community make MeepCraft an even more inviting community, especially to new players, this server could grow.

I myself was going to quit, until Imperfectly helped me get out there and become a part of an amazing and friendly community. It's gestures like this that we need to do for everyone.

Think of it as real life, people don't make friends based off of ranks or money. If you talk and be social you will make friends. Citizens I don't think are ignored it just takes time for them to know what to do in the game and then later they realize they want to be part of community and start talking to make friends. It's not that hard you just have to be social and not quiet as a citizen. But for the idea of playing for a certain time and gaining perks would be cool.
