Suggestion/Rant - Slime Blocks

I mean, not everybody has to make their own suggestion on the issue page.

You are very much correct about the fact that staff member wouldn't like to fix all slime block griefs. But even more then that, they probably wouldn't be able to handle it.

Someone said earlier that they fixed the problem from the root and that the root was slime blocks themselves. But the real root here, is the actual Towny plugin. If more people started to make the suggestions here, we could really fix the problem at the real root.

 

I mean if you put it that way, then yes.
I guess I didn't think that one through.
Only thing I'm worried about is if the suggestion gets through.

We still want them in the towny worlds. They're awesome things and its a shame that they're going to waste.

 

But think about it, an entire town griefed for what a flying machine? First off you could fly the machine into someone elses plot, and second staff could refund some money but tons of people would have to leave the town because their houses were destroyed. They can still bounce, and what point is there to a flying machine? Only town staff could acses it if they were to make it for town travel, and a horse would have ten times less risk and be faster. And if some person decides they don't like meep all they have to do is make a flying machine or piston with the slime block to destroy half of a town

Going back to the original problem.. Even in wild they are still a major problem because we don't want contraptions that are able to destroy the world easily. Greifing towns in just one problem.

 

Exactly, which is why flabbadoodle started a petition to set limits for slime blocks.

 

Its not even a petition, its just that people have to comment more on the suggestions page of the plugin. And this will stop the slime blocks before they leave the plot or even if they were going out of the town.

Even if people commented on my suggestion saying how this should be put in, it should make a difference whether or not this will be added.

 

This was a simple suggestion. We're not "taking things for granted" we're just saying staff signed up for staff knowing that they would need to protect and help all of us. I'm fairly certain they didn't sign up to do nothing.

 

I'm not saying they don't do anything, cause I know they have a load of crap on them 24/7. Now see, if you had actually read the thing in full, it said "I'm pretty sure they DON'T sign up to do nothing". Next time, actually read it

 

Yes, we signed up to help you guys. That's not to say that when we applied for helper, we vowed to unconditionally help. That's not to say that we enjoy solving other peoples' problems. However, you speak as if staff does nothing, which is simply incorrect. There's many things wrong with the staff team, but lack of things to do isn't one of them. Stop acting like an entitled toddler and put yourself in the shoes of a helper for a moment. A giant flying machine has destroyed someone's town, spreading destruction in its wake. You're the only staff member on, and there's nine other mayors complaining that their town has just gotten destroyed. Add to that 5 conventional griefing cases, some harassment, and 4 hackers in kitpvp. What do you do (no, this is not a rhetorical question, actually answer it)? Yes, we said we'd help you guys, but we don't want you to create headaches for us, and we certainly don't want to have to run behind you cleaning up your messes. Why do you feel as if you deserve the unconditional support of us, regardless of what you do--are we your servants? Do we have feelings too? Again, reading your signature and seeing that you support Donald Trump for president, I'm not one bit surprised.

Personally, I like the suggestion proposed by @flabbadoodle a lot more--simply be patient, and reach out to the bukkit/towny community and see if someone will write the code for us. Perhaps if you're nice enough, dblosevn might even take his time to write the code. This will ensure that slime blocks are completely safe, while retaining their functionality.

This implies that the staff team is currently doing nothing, and as such should be doing something.

Yo, police officers and security guards are supposed to help us, so let's give M-16's to every ex-con who walks out of prison on their release date, since we have law enforcement to keep us safe. After all, it IS their right to bear arms...

 

Its not just any someone who will write the code. The maintainer of the actual plugin is still active and might take our suggestion. But we have to get it noticed if we want it to be done.

Ok, well that is not what i meant, and I'm sorry that was taken wrong, i was meaning to say y'all signed up to help, and i know you do

 

Denied. We would really like to add this, but it takes a lot of time to get these to work without having major issues. This would take a lot of time developmental time that we don't have.
