This one is actually ridiculous, they nerfed slime blocks.

I'm her suggesting that we un-nerf them. i was told they were nerfed because they were used for griefing. Can't the staff just check around the area and see if a slime-block was placed, then where it ended up? I understand spawners and grinders, but a block! A block! Slime blocks can be used for so much, like moving machines and elevators! The good out-weighs the bad! But I guess they thought one bad thing meant it needed to be removed. I'm just suggestion we un-nerf this.

So pretty much you're saying the risk of a grief is worth having moving machines and elevators?

To an extent, yes. I'm just saying that if someone does get griefed. 1. It's usually their fault 2. Staff could just see if a slime block was placed. 3. They could get a refund if they do get griefed

Seems pretty simple to me, maybe that's just me though. I may be under-thinking this though.

not really, I'm not really one to say this but if you build a flying machine, it will know that you placed it, but if it were to move 1000 blocks you probably would t be able to find the location it was built and find who built it

idk if what I am saying is true but I think it is

    1. "Just remove the problem" Then why don't we remove pickaxes and axes and shovels, all those start at griefings roots.

    2. how is it not nerfed?

would you like to be the guy who goes around fixing all the slime block griefs until meepcraft dies(probably a long long time?)

don't say "sure of course" because i know you wouldn't actually want to :D

What is that supposed to mean? We all do have some idea what staff do. They protect the server, handle issues, and do other general help. It is their job to help. By becoming staff they signed up to help.
That being said, having griefers pop up everywhere could be something that staff couldn't handle by themselves.
On the other hand, what could griefers steal thats important? A wood plank here, a cobblestone piece there. They obviously can't steal from chests. Sure, it would be annoying to keep on replacing that one block that griefers steal, but does that really out-weigh the awesomeness of slime blocks?
But I also have another idea. Alright, we disable it the slimes block for now. But what happens if we go directly to the towny plugin makers and give a suggestion. If enough people gave the suggestion they might listen to us.
So all of us members from Meepcraft who feel that slime blocks really are cool and important, should go to the Towny plugin makers and suggest that they protect slimeblocks from altering others plots.

All you have to do is go to here and then click the New Issue button. Then type in the whole thing about slimeblocks not altering other people plots, etc, etc. And then post the issue.

I understand how you feel, but I'm not sure how those feelings apply here. He just said that they should un-nerf Slime blocks, which I would have to agree on because it's pretty annoying. I don't see where you're getting that he's acting like he's "the only one that matters".

No, its not a custom server plugin for this server. Hundreds of servers use this same plugin. By suggesting this to the plugin-maker/maintainer, we could see a fix to this problem in the next release.

Are you kidding me? There are a bunch of plugins that arent custom. Towny is not custom. You can look it up. You'll find many servers with the same exact plugin.

Here's the thing: theoretically, you can use slime blocks to make flying machines that move around the world, destroying terrain as they go. As such a machine isn't within the scope of towny permissions, if someone were to build such a machine in their town and activate it, the machine would destroy a swath of the world--taking out towns in their path. Such a machine would create a massive headache--staff would most likely have to roll back the entire world to a backup save file, causing people to whine about how their stupid work was lost and rolled back, and demanding refunds for that, causing people with other refund requests to whine about refund requests being backed up. You say "staff signed up for this, they should handle it." Okay, in that case, why don't we abolish door locks and CCTV cameras, because police detectives "signed up for this, they should be able to handle it. As a former staff member, we get complained at for EVERYTHING: Hacker in KitPVP? BETTER CALL STAFF!! Want your friend unbanned? BETTER CALL STAFF!! Got a horse stolen? BETTER CALL STAFF!! Found a glitch? BETTER CALL STAFF!! Someone cursing at you? BETTER CALL STAFF!! Someone called you a noob? BETTER CALL STAFF!! HE HARAS ME!!111!!!1 Then on the one occasion where modreqs get piled up (most likely when you're the only staff on) people whine about how long modreqs are taking. And here you are, suggesting that staff signed up for this, so they deserve the work????

Being a staff member is like being IT: Something wrong? aSDRDTFIAHYERGTEUAHRFADSHFEAJFESADF

Everything goes right? Why the hell are you even here for? (not realizing that we made everything go right in the first place).

Come on, dude. If you want this to be implemented why don't you go and code the damn thing?

@metr0n0me Well, you DID sign up for it so you SHOULD expect all of the above to happen. After all, that's what the staff is their for.

But you are right about the slime block thing though, now that I think about it.

Alright, putting all that aside, my idea can be possible. It is possible for the plugin-maker to make sure that the slime block contraption thingy isnt going out of bounds. Out of the town and into the wild or out of the plot. Since there is a very large community at meepcraft and if many of us suggest it, I'm sure we can be noticed by the plugin maintainer.

Why is it hard to believe?
You know that Essentials plugins that many servers use?
It was made for free and released for free. The chestshop plugin that meepcraft uses?
Done for free and anyone can download it.
I'm not complaining about anything, I'm just saying, that if more and more of us suggest this, we can be noticed and there will be a higher chance that this change will be made.

It's technically possible to wrote a plugin to set boundaries for slime block/piston contraptions, but editing the code for towny is a nightmare. Additionally, while it may be possible to ask individuals to write code for free, a quick search on the bukkit website tells me this (correct me if I'm wrong).

Also, I believe that the town plugin is open-source. In fact, you can download the plugin here.

First of all, you're making it seem like I'm specifically contacting the individual to do it and what not. What I'm trying to say is that you're making it seem like giving the plugin-maker a suggestion isn't normal.
It is open-source. But editing the code and giving the newly made plugin to Meepcraft is not what I had in mind. I was saying that we give the suggestion to the maintainer of the plugin and they might make the change.

What is that article telling you?
