Towns Delta

+1 I love the idea of 3 towns and custom towny plug-in.

 

+1 to new world
+1 to custom plugin
+1 to towny wars enabled
+1 to government officials

 

As some have stated already in this thread, Meepcraft Towny is already customized.
I am for a new Towny map. Sounds new, interesting, fun, blah!
However, be careful with how much you change about a plugin. When people join Meepcraft for Towny, they expect Towny. Customization makes a server unique, but there's a limit to how much is beneficial. Make sure that the new Towny wouldn't be crazy.

This is literally what i suggested months ago, and it was accepted, its on trello. No need for another thread.

 

I hate beta and I won't like another towny world because I like to stick to Alpha but +1 I think it'd be a great idea!

NO NO NO!!! Alpha is already declining because of Beta, this would just destroy alpha and all its towns. R.I.P. Ebon we would all say.

And before you say "Just move your town" , you can't. You can't just pick up your town and move it.

 

If Beta is taking over that much, I would not have bothered buying and Alpha town after my Beta. It is not going to ''destroy'' Alpha if we get a new town.

 

Yes it will, everyone will want to go to the new world because it's new, it's just what people do. That's why they go to beta, because it's newer.

First of all, how would this affect the server? Your points are just for your own desires, not for the benefit of Meepcraft.

Beta has 3/4 people compared to alpha, and I was in beta just checking in on Minechat. Alpha is not declining because of beta; people just prefer different worlds. Also, the new towny world would be popular at first. Just like how minigames are popular when they first come out, they decline over time, and it's all equal.

If you have any other points to how this is bad to the server not relating to yourself, feel free to say so.

This is true, but they are mini-games, short term attributes to the server. They do not require much effort put into it, excluding games like infected where this is leveling. However towns require a long-term commitment to keep them up, and if this new world comes out and someone wants to make a delta town, and more do, and so on, more people will be attracted to this activity in delta, and then all the really old towns will lose activity/members and fall.

But many ranked players might quit, including me if this happened. And if one of those is your "friend" it makes the game less interesting cause they are gone, then ultimately you would quit as well. I went through this right at the end of Summer when Jipdos left.

 

Alpha almost always dominates over Beta. I would say 85% of the time, Alpha sees more players at a time, the two worlds are tied, or there are not very many people on to make the argument. The only resaon I stay out of Alpha is because it looks ugly. It haf to be regenerated after a glitch happened. My lovely desert and jungle turned into some hills, mountains and plains.
Also, it's just been a lot easier to run the Beta town for some reason.

@Deinen made a really good point with us being a hub and including Towny within our little hub. It describes us more than "Towny Server" does.

I also really love the idea of permanent towns, and being able to vote for people into positions. While it would more or less become a popularity contest in some areas, this is something I haven't seen before in my adventures. It would be really neat to see this. Those who don't like it can stick to Alpha and Beta .

How is our towny different than any other server's towny? We have some customization to it here and there, but not a whole lot. I could go to another towny server, or build my own towny server and have basically the exact same thing Meep does. If it were possible for our lovely coders and techs to find out a way to make a new custom towny plugin that was very different than the one out there currently, we could then call ourselves a unique Towny experience.

Also, to those saying Charlie, no. Tis not military code, this is greek alphabet. Technically, the next would be Gamma, but gamma reminds me of brightness when mining. So, Delta is the next in the series and just sounds overall appealing. Don't know why.

To those thinking people would leave, I actually think a new towny plugin and features in a new world with everything else left in-tact might bring some of our old players, who got bored, back and bring in some new players looking for a unique towny. Obviously, this new world would take some attraction from the other worlds, for maybe a few weeks, but then others would drift off into Alpha and Beta.

+1 to the idea overall, and I think if this were to be accepted or put on Trello, there should be more suggestion threads put up about the different ideas in here and see those expanded from different view points to see what we can bring together as a community.
