Trade chat and global chat.

There has been an issue recently with how trade chat is enforced. Several staff members have had their different takes on it.

''Town advertisements are allowed in global for new players to see them!''
I get your point, I do. But, trade chat is automatically enabled. If someone knows how to toggle /tr off, then they probably know enough about the server to join a town, or at least turn it back on.

''it's not a transaction, just an ad.'' (advertising for a PvP arena. This could also go for nearly any pwarp that doesn't involve some shop, casino, anything that doesn't involve transactions.)


Isn't the point of trade to advertise? If I toggle trade off, I want my chat to be advertisement free.

What's the point of having trade chat to reduce global spam if we continue to allow 'some' advertisements?

Suggestion: make /tr an all-advert chat, and global an 'everything else' chat. Giveaways or events, like drop parties or something of the like, are included as advertisements (and especially if they are at some sort of shop/casino, that's basically evading the rule.)

suggestion 2: At least get the freaking staff members on the same page as to how this is enforced. Come on, it's not hard.

 

Suggestion 3: Remove /tr.

It's not working anyway.

Trade chat was designed for use to advertise things, no other reading into it further needed. Shout is for chatting, trade is for advertising

That's the point of the suggestion.
Several staff members make different exceptions as to what is allowed in shout that is an advertisement.

I've seen some allow 'join my town!' in global, but I've seen some staff warn the player to do /tr.
I've seen some allow ads as long as they do not involve any type of transaction, like a PvP arena.

This suggestion is to eliminate all advertisements in /g, and bare minimum set a clear rule that all staff enforce equally.

 

Noone actually does it, and this is the problem.
People with /ttoggle can't see ads, So those people advertising do it in /g instead, (so everyone can see it and they hopefully get more buyers).

 

Moving to accepted + awaiting further discussion from team
