/near

the server should have /near so they can see who's near them. Great idea

 

This is a staff command for mod+. Im assuming you are suggesting it be a command for any player to use.

/near isn't really needed. I know mods have it, not even helpers do. I feel that this can be abused to a certain extent, and mess with people when they're making games in towny and such. I'm just not sure of the necessity of this.

-1 It is a staff command and this command would be dangerous in wild and sometimes towny.

 

Many other servers have this command as part of a rank, and it's actually helpful to warn you when there is another person in the wild who could potentially kill you. Also, as LlamaofEvil said, I sometimes want to know who is going to be seeing my local chat chats.

Just out of plain curiosity, why would this command be a hazard in the wild/towny?

If you are in wild looking for the supply drop and you get close and you type /near to check if anyone's around, you see someone in chat, you hide and camp supply drop, kill the person. Etc.

-1. It would be used solely for camping the wild chest, seeking people out in the wild, and hunting players in the dungeon.
Any other circumstances would use /tpa such as spawn, towny, ect.
But, if we had factions (pls)

I say no on making staff command public.

 

+1 I could get a lot of use out of this as a mayor, because occasionally people are running around who aren't residents. Are they looking to join? To shop? To loot?

If the major concern is abuse in Wild, can we disable it there?

 

It's specifically supposed to be a staff-command only, and if you disable the command, it will be disabled completely.

 

Computers were originally designed for business purposes, and here you are playing on one. Things evolve.

We already have tons of commands that work in certain worlds but not in others. Most of your general commands are disabled in Parkour, for instance.
