I'm back, with another suggestion! This time..Custom Plot Sizes!

Now, as I'm here thinking about this, there may be a few problems with this, but I plan on finding a solution.

    So here it goes.

    So here are the commands.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    /plot set size (corner 1 x,z) (corner 2 x,z)

Or, if you want to add height to the plot

/plot set size (bottom corner x,y,z) (top corner x,y,z)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, there are a few problems, with space. So here we go.

You can only make custom plots shorter than 16*16, unless you have plots next to the one your on.

So if you want to make a plot 8*8 you can do that. But there will still be room on the outside. But, you will not be able to surround a plot, so that extra space can either go towards another plot or you can make another smaller one.

In case you haven't already noticed, this works pretty similar to world edit.

And in case your having trouble understanding how to do this, here is an example.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    So, let's say this is a 16*16 plot. Each (-) = 2 blcoks , * = corner , Each | = 7 blocks

    *-------*
    |-------|
    |-------|
    *-------*

Now, to make a, let's say, 8*8 plot, you would do this. First off, let's say you wanted to split the plot. So you would go to a corner of the plot. then walk 8 steps down the edge of the plot, then 8 steps to your left or right, whichever way you take to get to the other side. make sure you write down the coords of each corner, then would type the command like this.

    /plot set size 1,2,3 4,5,6

(These are fake coords, but you get the point)

Now, there may be a problem with taxes, as who would want to pay the same price for a smaller plot?

    And here is my solution

Why don't we just dived the taxes?

So let's say that taxes are 100, for a normal 16*16 plot.

Lets say you make a 8*8 plot, that is half of the original plot, so taxes would be 50 for that specific plot.

So here's how I say we divide it.

A normal plot has 256 blocks. A 8*7 plot has 56. If you divide 56/256, the percent would be 22%. So you would take 22% of 100 and get 22 meebles tax.

Now, lets say your selling a 18*18 plot. Now as you can tell, you cant divide to get this, or it would be less than an actual plot. so here is what it would do. you would take the original tax, so in this case, 100. Then you would find the percent of the second plot, like before, and just simply add the two number together, and there is your tax

Now, this is may have a few problems in it, as this could get really complicated, so if you find any, please comment them in the comments below. And if you ave any suggestions or tweaks, please feel free to comment them too!

    Have A Wonderful Day!

would people be able to make plots bigger then 16x16?
its a great idea if you wanna make a house for 2 people, like a split house

Yes you could, but it would you would have to have the plots currently open. And also, you can't claim plots like this, you have to claim them as they are now.

2 plots next to each other.
    Anyways,
This seems like a lot of work for something that isn't really too problem solving.
Just don't use the space on a given plot.
My vote will stand at a -1

I respect you opinion, but I do believe this is useful, 1, you can make hotels easily w/o having to turn on switch for the entire hotel so everyone can steal. 2. Split houses 3. Some people sell 4 plots at a time, you can now do this w/o the risk of people claiming one of the 4, as now you can sell it all as one. But I still respect your opinion.

This just seems really difficult, really confusing to new people, I see big problems as to how upkeep is managed.
It's so simple to have a plot be a full chunk. Why fix something that isn't broken?

town upkeep would stay the same, as it matters upon how many plots the town has claimed. But I do see problems with resident plots. But I do believe I fixed that with the tax percent.

So that people could make condos?

In my case I would build a giant Oldsmobile Cutlass to live in. I would have the poor players live in the glove compartment and in the cracks of the seats where they will be forced to live off of crumbs of french fries and other things.

While the others can live on the dashboard and everywhere else.

I really don't see the reason to make plots bigger or smaller. The new members will just get confused & so will some of the younger people on meepcraft. I think the plots are fine the way they are. Just my opinion not wanting to start anything I just seen no point in it.

So one issue I might see with this is. What if I am alone in a town and I am building a whole town from scratch to sell it. Would I be able to make a plot that is 200x400 blocks in size? Then that would defeat the purpose with or system that defines the amount of plots a town can have. Another issue, what if instead of me claiming something that would cost the town 10 plots. Would I be able to claim that with one big plot? If so we would have to redefine how the towny plugin defines the amount of plots a town can have, to a set amount of blocks each town can have claimed instead.

My eyes might have imploded from your text colors
+1 because it would be cool, but would probably take a while to implement.

When claiming town plots, its the same, its just setting new plot sizes. Also when upkeep is counted, it still counts the 1616 plots. It doesnt count the custom plot sizes.

The real problem here is that we would have to do a full recoding of how towny registers plots and how it saves them. I do not think the amount of work would be worth doing this. Like what are the + of doing this, what do we gain from it?

This is denied because of the amount of work this would take. I think we would have to do a full rework of how towny registers and saves plots. That is a lot of dollars we can spend on something els and that is why this is denied. Have a nice day :)
