Single-File Permission Switch on Towny

Hello helpers, moderators, administrators. I come here to give a suggestion that should be done in Towny.

As you know, it is often that residents of a town are unable to "switch" with things like minecarts, chests, doors, etc. I noticed that there's only one option - switch on, or switch off. I don't enjoy the single available option. I think there should be an option that you could make it so that you can use minecarts, but not open doors, and other combinations like that. Maybe the command should be /t toggle item:use. Or /t item:use on. Or something like that. Just wanted to suggest that.

as a mayor I wanted to allow residents to open doors and use pressure plates, But nothing else. But because if i enabled those, they would be able to open chest and activate thing i didn't want them to.

 

If I remember correctly, it's hard to modify anything pertaining to towny and towny files because the towny plugin we have is very buggy and old.
Now I may be wrong.

But this is a terrific idea. I would love to be able toggle what can and can't be toggled and switched.

The towny plugin is extremely difficult to modify, and if you modify it too much the entire towns worlds could go 'poof.'

If you really want perms to be on, just do some other work. Set all doors outside of that one plot, tell people they can't go in or it's trespassing (they can be banned then).
Put down shop signs on chests to lock them.
I don;t think it's needed.

 

But, What if you want staff to be able to open the chests

 

This would also be cool if we could toggle it so people can have access to just certain chests in the plot.

Rather than either allow access to all chests or none. Maybe allow access to certain ones and lock others.

 

Then move the damn chests.
It's not difficult, a plot is only 16x16 blocks.
You can walk that distance, you can edit your doors, we don't need a new plugin or a plugin edit for this.

Shop signs.

 

Yes while shop signs do work, they're also a pain to set up specially in a room full of 30+ chests.

 

Yes. I agree. It would be good to have that in only a certain area...

It's too much hassle to mess with the plugin for the reward of item switch.
