Let's Get Serious

The five likes and five posts requirement is so little that we have applicants that aren't even known applying. This needs to have a tighter policy to increase forum activity in applicants.

I suggest 50 posts and 25 likes in order to be able to apply.

+/- Although staff should be active on forums this requirement, I feel, is just to prevent spam applications. Also, if someone loses their account information to forums it would be difficult to make this up.

 

There oesn't need to be a requirement, period. if a person doesn't know they should be active on forums then they shouldn't be staff anyway.

 

The applicants should have 'Well-Known Member' at the bare minimum.

A few of the current staff members don't even have that.. Or at least didn't have that when they applied.

 

I feel it should be at least 100 posts and 100 likes. This shows that they have been on the forums enough to be able to know their way around it.

 

I thought about 100 and 60 like it used to be on old meep, but the forums aren't as active. Anything greater than the five and five policy would be nice.

 

Nobody here deals with applications, so don't worry about who is applying.

You've neglected my point on purpose. If 0% of the workload of this system goes to you, then what does it matter? It's akin to you watching someone else paint, and giving them pointers on how they should be doing it.

 

By this logic, what is the point of open staff applications? 0% of the workload of the system goes to the community, so it doesn't matter anyways.

-1 They are funny, and not that much work to dismiss. I made a crappy app back in the day, i like them.

 

Because the players wouldn't shut up about it when we relaunched this server, so we let them do it simply to shut them up. But it's working out so far, so. Don't fix what isn't broken.

 

So it doesn't matter if we can see them, our opinions don't matter in the end. But because people complained enough, we have to see them.

This makes no sense.

Community members have no value besides the profits the server gets. Playing a video game isn't about making money. Its about enjoying time with people you like to play video games with. A server doesn't generate profits, it generates a community that it well knit and enjoys spending time with each other.

I guess in the end, we're all just dollar signs in your eyes.

I wonder where all this "Protect my investment" crap went. Obviously you don't care about the well being of the server, and obviously you don't want things to change.

 

Uhmmm, if you are having no fun whatsoever with this server why are you here. In the world there is capitalism, and you pay for a good. You don't even have to pay the server at all, you can play for free. How is Deinen just using you as a bank?

 

Have you not noticed that all I do is forum lurk like I have been for the last year and a half?

I played in game for about a week and realized this isn't the MeepCraft I want to play on, so I left.

I come on the forums to post things to help people make Meep better. Until things start changing for the better, I won't come back.

 

How is the game a wasteland of community because ex-staff refutes your opinion.

I was thinking about making this suggestion, forgot about it.
Definitely should do this, the amount of new players thinking they are able to get staff easily is too damn high!
This was there before, with 100 likes and 100 messages needed. But I remember thinking that this was all I needed to become staff. So I spammed posts and tried to get the most likes as possible, and when I got enough I believed that was all it took. It needs to be clear to people that getting staff isn't a small matter.

 

Yes and no; we get a lot of modreqs saying that the "current application system is messed up it won't let me apply!"

I think it needs to clearly be stated on the application form that 5 likes, 5 posts, w/e are required; that's not clear ATM. We could just make it 50 likes/50 posts; realistically (with notable exceptions being Zoe89, Bobjoncreeper, Bl4uto, T3k) the applications would get denied anyway for (probably among other issues) forums inactivity.
