Making Beds Usefull

Beds...are useless. They are a major aspect(to most survivalists) because they can get rid of all the beasties. On Meepcraft we have no reason to sleep besides making it bright. So here's some ideas I had to make sleeping useful.


1. If 6 players are sleeping, make it day. Some people who aren't donators need brightness too.

2. Each time someone sleeps, have a 50% chance to heal them fully(hunger and hearts). The other 50%, make players lose 3 hunger(not premium+)

3. Add a command /sleep which will send a notification to all players in the world to go to bed.


I feel like these could be helpful/add a bit of fun to the game for those who don't have /feed or /ptime.

How about we implement something like hermit craft? Where if someone is in a bed they have like six seconds for someone to say something. Otherwise it automatically makes it day.

There's no point to this...
This isn't needed at all.

 

There is great use for this because lots of people don't have ranks +1

 

If you want the perk, get the rank.

 

Just because someone doesn't have the perk, doesn't mean there has to be something else implemented that might not even be used often.
You want the perk?

I have an idea:

• Have a timer that goes off once per minute
• Have a counter that would track who's in a bed
  • If the player is not in a bed when the timer goes off, set the counter equal to 0
  • Otherwise the player is in a bed when the timer goes off, and the counter increments +1
• Once the counter reaches 2, it is reset to 0, the player is ejected from the bed, and the player has the server use /ptime dawn <username>

It makes it so that way players can still set it to daytime and see without using... other... methods yet the time cost of at least 1 minute of sleeping is much more of a hassle than just typing /ptime dawn.



Just my thought - the majority of the playerbase are citizens, and if you give them cool little trinkets, it increases the chance of them staying and boosting the overall player count/donation potential.

I actually like it. I like beds, and this adds a bit more of a meaning to them. Just sending out "oh, I'm getting in bed now" to world chat would be useful, but I like the twist you added as well.

Make it so that only one person would go to bed and it would sort of be like /ptime, but u could't use it often.

 

I doubt six people will sleep at same time, even with a global message telling them to sleep. If half the time you lose hunger points, why would people take the risk? What about firework shows or things that have to do with the night? If it's going to be like /ptime day, then there's already a command for that for Exclusives and higher.

But as it is in op's version I think it'll be more annoying than cool/useful. Especially sice some even like to have the game in nighttime from time to time.

 

This is a lot of work for one block. I understand the fun of it, but for the resources needed to allow this to occur, it's not necessary.
