Towny War

All right.
Towny War used to be in the game, but was removed when the plugin failed. It was added again, but when it was added it immediately said a really epic countdown in the chat that said when towny war was going to start and everyone freaked the hell out.
Too be honest Towny War made good would be amazing.
Imagine this: You have a castle, lined with archers shooting down at the gate. Warriors with swords and other weapons added in the combat update fight with the invading enemy and try to slow them down as they stream into the town.
Or
An army of horses and people with weapons charge down a mountain lord of the rings style and crash into the enemy outpost, riding through and shredding through the enemy lines. The people in the camp try to rally but fail. The two kings fight one on one.

The amazing thing about this all is that it is possible. With all the new things coming out in Minecraft, this could be an epic battle. This wouldn't be like factions, where you have the water covered obsidian bases. No, this would be a whole new level of epic. There could be a thriving town with houses and bridges and a castle. This would simply be amazing. There is no other word for it.
Who wouldn't want to charge into battle on a horse and jump over enemy fortifications, crashing down onto the warriors below. Who wouldn't want to shoot down at people while atop a tower?
Donators could have magic spells while in war. You could not teleport when joining a war, nor could you do any cheating. Joining a war would happen only when the town owner would select join a war, and the people in the town would all have to accept. If more then half the people in the town decided to join the war, then the people who didn't would stay in their protected houses while the battle ensued. Battles would take many days, and whichever town managed to take over more of the other towns plots in the time of one week would win. Plots would be captured by standing on them for 5 minutes. Another way for a town to win is by getting a thousand kills. If a town lost a war, they would then become part of the other town, with the leader of the losing town becoming Co-Leader. When in a war, you could not do any /home or anything like that. You could only teleport to your town hall every 10 minutes, so as to make it easier to win. While in a war you could break blocks but you can't have any tools while in battle, which all get teleported to a virtual chest and are given back when the war ends.
In the end this would be awesome

I highly doubt we would be willing to add it to Alpha or Beta, due to the pre-existing investments people have made. I wouldn't be opposed to a War Towny server, but I'm not sure how redundant in the end having 3 towny servers would be.

 

Maybe it could become some sort of mini game, kinda like skyblock. More than a mini game, less than a huge thing like towns? Idk. I would say +.5 good idea, but has flaws.

 

Make a towny war world where towny owners could copy one of their towns to the world and then wars would happen, no resources could be picked up/placed

 

it really should've been added to beta when it was made

because having two towny servers with no difference but the name is eh

 

Actually, Beta was made to reduce server load on Alpha, reducing the lag inherent with that many people.

 

Actually, this is a decent idea!

 

I would like this as a game, except you have 30 minutes to get resources, build walls, and then you fight for 30 minutes. Team with most kills, most I guess flag captures.. I feel like this could be added to CTF, but there would have to be at least a max of 15 or so players...

 

Towny wars are not CTF
I saw one video on youtube and it's on heck lot of fun.

I am very much against this. It would only destroy what people have created and earned through their time in meep. It would become impractical to keep towns. Also merging towns isn't really beneficial cuz now a mayor has to pay for a ton of extra plots which might be beyond his economic means. The next problem is the plugin. The old plugin would have to be heavily modified or a new one created all together. This would be a hassle to do and takes away from what is being implemented. Also I dont really understand the virtual chest. why make things go to a virtual chest when they r just returned at the end. That massive moment of blocks is going to cause a lot of lag for literally no reason. I think your imagination ran a little wild with this idea.

 

+1. I do think that after the war, all towns would be restored to pre-war state. I would hate to loose a town because of a war..

I meant it in a way that if it does turn into a game, or it is a seperate thing from towny itself, then there could be flags in it. If it turns into a game.

 

+1, just opt out of the war by leaving the nation/going neutral.

1) I agree totally if this applied to the existing townies. I would be open to opening another one, but 3 townies seem redundant, but who knows

2) Towny war is a built in function, imo it's rather bulky to start wars, it has tons of conditions.

 

Yeah, it may cause some unwanted tension between certain people.

 

Is this server intended to simulate reality?
