players need a way to quickly sell special goods and shout auctioning causes lots of spam. I think we should have a spawn-townsa-townsb-wild auctioning plugin to allow players to sell their items
Examples:
/auction 7 stone 1000 20 60

This auctions 7 stone with a starting bid of 1000 and bid increments of 20 for 60 seconds

Multiple items could be auctioned at a time and the items and money would automatically be transferred

If inventory space is full, items will drop on ground and players could bid by using

/bid 1560 stone

Or a bid of 1560 for the 7 stones

 

With the vshop coming back I don't really see this as something being needed.

But you can't sell heads and other enchanted goods using vshop

 

I don't want vshop back because it will most likely mean the end of chestshops

 

Auctions also allow more player interaction than vshop and spawn shop

No.
If you haven't seen auction plugins in action, they do cause spam by people bidding on an item.
And auction plugins doesn't increase player to player interaction.
It's like the vshop, where you don't even meet the player as the items get automatically put into your inventory.

It's the same amount of interaction as vshop.

Let's also talk about how people can abuse this. Sell 1 diamond and have friends bid on it and make the price go up and when it gets to a point where it's high enough and someone else bids on it you tell your friends to stop. (I see this on almost every server with auction.)

also, the current bid doesn't have to be spammed every time someone bids

if people auction tons of crap stuff, then people won't bid on them . Also, people should be able to auction multiple items (aka i auction 10 dirt at same time as blah auctions a cooleysworld head) players can choose what they bid on by using /bid (amount) (item)


I DO understand the disliking of his idea though, and I do agree. It is worth a try, though.

 

Onis said Fuzzlr and possible otthers are working on the vshop plugin and fixing it up to be put back on.

 

What if there was a separate chat for trading that players can join/leave? That way, if you don't want to be spammed or don't want to buy 1 gravel (which I don't know why you wouldn't), you could just exit the chat

Vshop= Virtual shop. it is simple to use. basic commands: /buy <item name> <ammount> , /sell <item name> <ammount>, /price <item>.

To clarify, this is what I personally understand about it. The plugin we all know as "Vshop" is not coming back, Onis is working on a new system, which is essentially vshop, but will also offer a spot to those who want to sell locally.

- That being said, an auction may be useful, if what you could auction is limited severely. We additionally would need a seperate channel to compensate for the amount of text this gives off. In my opinion this certainly falls under "Good idea, but it probably won't end up happening."
