Towny Policy change: Effective 11/15/14

One of MeepCraft’s most unique and popular features is its Towny system, which lets players live, build, and work together in player-run communities. We believe that a big part of what makes this server great is our community, and many of our players get their first taste of that when they are welcomed into a town. But if new players aren’t given the chance to own a plot and fully participate in a town that they join, they might not get to experience this part of MeepCraft.

Beginning 11/15/14, towns must have at least as many plots as they have residents. For example, if you are a mayor of a town that has 100 residents, your town must own 100 or more plots. If a town is in violation of this rule, you will be given a 7 days to fix the situation, either by adding plots or losing residents.

If the violation isn’t corrected at the end of the 7-day grace period: Each day, the Mayor will be fined of 50% of its daily town tax rate until the town complies with the rule. We hope you will never have to pay this fine! Thank you for helping MeepCraft to remain a welcoming community!

(We understand that some players like to share a plot at times, making this hard to be within policy. Policy states one plot per resident, so if you have 100 residents and only 80 have plots... As long as you have 20 town owned plots to reach the 100 plots for 100 residents you will be within rule.)

Do all residents have to have a plot?

 

They don't have to own one, the mayor must have plot number vs residents as a ratio of 1:1. Say if you have 20 residents, you need 20 plots in the town.

 

Ah, thanks for clearing it up. Got a bit confused since me and a friend share one.

 

You can get town staff to change to plot name to "swordsamster21 & <name>".

Say the town has like 100 plots and 73 residents. Yet, 35 plots are used for a town spawn etc,
Is that town complying with the rule?

 

Yes that works, if the town has 73 residents it needs 73 plot so with 100 plots it would be ok.

 

Small question.
Let's say I have a town with 20 people. I have 20 plots.
Two are the town spawn. 1 more is a shop.
This leaves 17 residential plots. with 20 residents.
Would this be fine?

And another.
I have the same town, 20 people. 19 people have a plot, and it's all happy dandy. Person number 20 comes along, and I just do a /t claim, and I don't get it ready or anything, but it's there.
Would this be fine too?

 

As long as when you do /t here the number of town plots is equal to or exceeds the number of residents you are fine!

 

Seems like a good idea. Will stop the farming towns keep up the good work

Horneburg has almost 4x the plots to the number of town members in each towns world

 

I own the beta horneburg, but I changed the name. The current horneburg in beta is a remake.
I doo have 100 more plots than residents though.

 

Horne owns MonkBurg which has 400+ plots and like 100 residents. Also he has Horneburg in Alpha with 400+ plots and 200 residents

 

Horneburg beta (monkburg) (owned by me)
300 residents, 410 plots.
Horneburg alpha, owned by horne
150 residents, 415 plots.

 

Yeah good Idea for the towny!
