Player Spawn Hologram

Players should be able to rent a hologram at spawn to advertise their warps or etc. They should be allowed to have colors in the hologram as well to make it stand out.

Pricing: -12.666x+2373.2x+1526.2 where x is the time (in hours) of the advertisement.

Commands:

• /pholo rent <text> <time> # Rents a holo for a time
• /pholo delete # Delete your current holo, no refund
• /pholo setpos # Moves your current holo
• /pholo settext <text> # Changes your current holo's text
• /pholo prices # Current prices

Issues:

• Advertisement of other servers. We should enforce our current chat filter.
• Profanity. Anyone using this plugin to put profanity in the spawn should be permanently banned.
• False information. You should not be allowed to spread false information (such as false rules) on these holos.
• We should be able to identify the owner of a hologram. All holograms should be suffixed with "- <PlayerName>"

Onis, these new ideas, I'm loving them. Even if I'm against them, it is still amazing to see a lot of suggestions.

As far as the location of the holograms, would there be a designated area for the signs or would they be placeable almost anywhere?

This really depends on my other post "New Spawn," and how we lay it out. It could be bad, could be good.

 

Valid point. But maybe it wouldn't be so bad in the current spawn, it might even hide some of the ugliness.

How about instead of people being able to rent them so easily, why not make it so there are only a set amount of adverts at spawn, maybe say 5, all in set positions. This will reduce the issue with loads of holo's at spawn. These will all have 1 hour timeslots.

Maybe there'd be a plugin for this - that'd take an extremely long time to make, but each timeslot is available to bid on maybe 48 hours before it's time to start, and bidding would close maybe 30 mins - 1 hour before. So say we have 5 advert slots at spawn, and you want to bid on the 14:00 timeslot on the 24th June 2014, and bid 50000 meebles.
Command: /pholo bid 24062014 1400 50000 == /pholo bid [date(daymonthyear)] [time] [price]
You'd receive a mail or alert each time you are outbid or win a bid, and there would be broadcasts when timeslots are released and closed, maybe with a broadcast 10 mins and 1 min before closure too.

There's a chance I'm over-complicating this, but it would reduce the density of pholo's and would be more interesting, with battles for timeslots where lots of users are at spawn.

 

A bidding system seems nice, but I'd rather equal opportunity for the rich and the poor to receive the advertising slots. I believe it'll get to the point when the advertising slots are not even worth it anymore.

Although this is something to be looked into if the advertising slots get out of control

I agree, it's a little confusing to be added in right away.

 

We should be able to do this in towns.

 

The lotto is already being worked on, but how about you can purchase say 5 tickets a month and there are up to 10 holo's each month? It wouldn't be overcrowded, and it would allow for equal chance to gain the spot.

 

Maybe make it a rank perk. Exclusive could use some more of them and I think this is an ability worth donating for.

 

Yeah, you just don't want a spawn filled with holograms.

 

Don't forget spacing in-between them.
PlayerB's hologram has to be at least 10 blocks away from the center of PlayerA's hologram.
