Most work currently is being put into the general economy and gameplay mechanics. KitPvP is in open Beta currently, which means it’s cut off from everything else for testing purposes of the kits. In full release, everything ties into the greater economy.

We have decided to abandon updating to 1.13 entirely due to its incredible lack of performance (approximately 60% more latency than any operation carried out in 1.12) and move to 1.14 after its release.

Towns is the primary focus of our developers, while I work on other things since I lack the experience and knowledge to develop things for the towny plugin as of yet. Regardless, there is a plan in place and it is being worked on.

No, I'm not gonna criticize you. I feel the same way. Either the top discussions are useless stuff or rants on the condition of the staff team and the sever. What I really want to know is why there is so much negativity and toxicity on here anymore. Any point I come to the forums, I walk away either upset or wanting to write a rant letter to someone.

Maybe it is just the way society rolls now. Maybe it is just the player base.

MineCraft won't be a really popular thing in a few more years. Seems like this last push for 1.9 has taken them forever, and I don't forsee a 2.0 coming out. The added fact that Meep is a towny "economy" server also has to do with the unpopularity of it. People think it can be restored to what it used to be, but in reality what really needs to be worked on is keeping the current player base happy while bringing in a few new people here and there. Without a player base, it's hard to build a player base. An unhappy player base makes for very few new-comers.

The one thing I will disagree with you on is that staff do a lot. Yes, they do quite a bit, but from what I hear and see, it's nothingclose to the difficulty it was back when I was staff the first time. I will give them credit that they work their minds to the point where they are using every bit they can to focus. It's an unhealthy relationship they have with it. There also seems to be that staff have to fully devote their free-time in their life to the sever. "You are playing x when we need help on Meep. Wow" . I mean. Waiting for a Klutch post on this thread too I guess, but. Yeah. I think it's just different to how staff used to be and people think it needs to be a consitent thing. Staff can't change. Can't change the way things work or the things they do. When in reality, that isn't a reality. The staff do a pretty darn good job for what they are tasked with. When they say they volunteer, they are really signing up for something along the lines of an unpaid-internship basically.

But yeah. Can we be a happy community for once, please?

Hello everyone!

This post is going to be a quick article about the new Movie Night discord that myself and some others are running. I’ve had the idea to run a movie server since I had a modded server around 2 years ago but the idea never really took off because no opportunity rose for it to be used. However, with all the actual cinemas shut its the perfect time for this.

Whats the next upcoming movie?
Kingsman the golden circle

When?
Sunday 8:00pm BST or 3:00pm PT (room opens at 10:45pm when the trailers start. This is to allow late people a bit of leeway to join).

Whos running the server?
@EllieEllie and myself are the managers of the server.
I have a few assistants moderating who are as follows @Vexmae, @SpongeyStar and @onceuponajano.

Can we suggest movies?
Yes, under the #movie-requests channel on the discord. We take all suggestions into consideration when choosing the movies for the week.

What movies are going to be shown?
Kingsman the Golden Circle. This will take us to the end of the week. The next movie lineup will be decided and voted upon from Sunday through next week.

Are movies shown on the Legion Server going to be shown here?
The movie night that Legion runs has no affect on the movie lineup we choose to show here. We are not in competition however, if we do end up showing the same movie its for people who couldn't attend one or the other, to give them another chance to see the movie.

Can I be an assistant?
We aren't currently taking applications or requests for people to be an assistant for the server. I've chosen the people I feel will do the best job at maintaining a good standard of moderation on the server and that will help promote the movies.

Are we able to host our own movies?
If you want to host your own movies, feel free to use one of the Screen 1-3 rooms available on the server. We also provide bots for music and a specific one for movie information. If you want to host a private movie, you can use the unlimited channel to do so. Just ask myself for the Unlimited Rank on the server to access the channel.

Disclaimer
If there is an issue with the stream, the issue is usually on the end of discord as in these times a lot of users will be on their services. A quick relog into the stream will usually fix the issue you are having.
We are also not involved with Cineworld Cinemas. However they provided their branding to people for home use, hense its being used here to provide a more cinema like experience.

For the record I did NOT miss it this time, but it's been four years since I applied for staff. I was a clueless freshman in high school, and a year ago I was unsure which college I was going to. I am now a freshman in college under the business school, hoping to major in HR or Marketing in 2021. I have interned at Microsoft, got broken up with recently, and have no clue how to read because I'm Jared and I'm 19. jk on the last one

Four years in the making and a lot has changed. I've probably hit the highest of highs and the lowest of lows that I've ever felt, as I've been thrown into new environments and huge changes one after another, but I'm still optimistic that the world is huge and there's a lot out there for me. I've come a long way, and I know it wouldn't have happened the same way if I hadn't discovered Meep.

Whew it's been a while since I've made a thread.

As the title states, it's been 6 long years since I joined Meep, and also almost 6 years since MeepNetworks was a thing. It's been a long road, and I don't regret a single moment of it.

It's really sad that some of my close friends no longer play on the server/are active in most ways I can reach them, but to everyone that I've met/talked to/traded with, thanks.

Premise​

As most active players can currently attest to, lag has been a major issue in the towns world lately. If can easily take thirty seconds just to resume gameplay after teleporting between your town outposts, not to mention random lagspikes. While some of this has to be done by the server administration team on the staff side, that's not all there is too it.

As the world goes on, the overall lag will increase as players build things that generate lag. They may be very small things, but they add up when we're talking about the number of people online at any given time. In addition, some areas are much, much laggier than others.

Solution​

In general, it is highly possible for lag to be reduced by the playerbase. This isn't an easy task to do as a whole, but everyone can contribute to making gameplay run smoother for all of us. With that in mind, here's many simple changes you can make to help us all out.

• Portals

Nether portals are notoriously horrible for their impact on performance. Simply put, just disable them when not in use by either breaking a block of obsidian and replacing it after.

• Chestshops and Storages

Item frames in themselves are a major cause of performance drops in both your FPS and strain on the server. When creating your chestshops for blocks, you can help yourself by simply placing the blocks next to the chest instead of in item frames. The same also applies to your storage rooms.

• Item Displays

Everybody has some rare items to show off! And naturally, the best way to show them off is in an item frame. However, this also is adding to the total server lag. If you simply must display some items for the world to see, space them out over several chunks to keep it from being concentrated in one spot.

• Item Farms

Yes, even item farms generate significant amounts of lag that can easily be reduced. In the bottom design, you can see a pumpkin farm that has all of its pistons attached to one circuit. This generates enormous lag when it is trying to activate thousands of pistons in a very short time period. The design on the top only responds when that individual plant grows. Simply research better designs that only activate when the individual plant grows, and you will notice a significant increase in not only performance, but the efficiency of your farm, as well.

• Unnecessary Components

You can reduce the strain on the server in your redstone devices by making several simple changes. In this example, you can see several different common redstone components. The fewer pistons and lamps you can use, the better. In addition, it is better to use multiple redstone repeaters in a row than redstone dust leading to a repeater with a delay (redstone dust is actually the #3 top cause of performance issues in redstone).

• More Unnecessary Components

Banners and armor stands, similar to item frames, also hurt server performance. A general area is to use as few of them as you possibly need. Signs and other items commonly used for decorations also contribute to this.

• Entity Blocks and Processing Blocks

Entities like shulker boxes and flower pots consume more server resources than normal blocks. In addition, magma blocks and hoppers generate more lag than normal blocks by being ticked constantly. Lighting changes also reduce performance considerably more than anything else in Minecraft. To fix this, use as few of these blocks as possible, and be careful not to have anything consistently changing your lighting.

• Transportation and Liquids

Entities such as minecarts and boats reduce performance as well. When not in use, it'd be a good idea to simply break them and store them in chests. Flowing liquids also aren't the best idea. Using source blocks instead will improve your experience, but fewer liquids will improve this even further.

• Animal Farms

One of the major causes of issues in towny is large-scale animal and mob farms. One attempt at resolving this made by the staff team was the stacking plugin, which obviously had its own issues. To improve this on your own, it's a smart practice to spread out your livestock as much as possible. Despite this being more expensive due to the nature of towny, it greatly improves performance for everyone.

• Mob Farms

When you're not actively using your spawners, it is practical to have some kind of kill switch to keep them from spawning while you are not actively using the farm. The fewer mobs on the server, the faster it will run. Alternatively, you can simply leave the area, and the chunks will be de-loaded, preventing the mobs from being active.

Conclusion​

There are many ways any player can contribute to reducing lag on the server. These are just a few simple ones based off of the way Minecraft works. Feel free to ask any questions on specific cases below, and I'd be more than happy to help you with the case.

We all want to run as lag-free as possible, and while doing these things isn't a foolproof solution, it will make a considerable difference in the long run as this towny world develops. Good luck, and happy lagbusting to you all!
