I just looked on the meepcraft facebook page and each post in the past year have had on average 2 likes... but then back in 2015 there were 500+ likes on posts. and each post was just mainly posting the link to the meeptimes. nice, but we could do with more social media boosting, do a few giveaways of sorts (that always grabs attention). back in the day I saw on the facebook page someone would post daily/weekly questions relating to meepcraft the server (meepcraft trivia I believe it was called), and then give some meebles or whatever to the person who got the answer right. you don't even have to give meebles, giving items or special perks idk. It would just motivate more people to play. on the instagram page you could do something super mainstream (lol) something like: "like and share this post with your friends to be in the draw to win blahblahblah"
additionally, seeing as we don't have any media staff now, staff could host a competition for all members of meep to publicize meep in some way or another. it could be like you do a drawing that advertises meep, or make a video, create an animation or do a real life skit (lol) . this would get a lot of people on board surely and there could be prizes of some sort as well. then these advertisements, with the approval of the person who made it, could be posted on the meep social media.
I don't know if these are done regularly, but events on the server would be super beneficial. something like doing special events during major holidays like christmas, halloween, easter etc etc whatever. I see some people hosting some events of their own but it would be great if the server could do it too. even just spontaneous events. I remember a few years ago, a staff member set up an event in creative where we had to get into teams of 4 people, then each group would get a plot and we had to build a new staff statue for reggles (the reward was the statue being used ). building competitions like these were super fun, it brought so many people together and I remember so many people taking part.
I don't know much about improving the actual meepcraft gameplay like towny, since I haven't been on much to explore the new things but by the looks of the updates in the meeptimes I think it's making a steady move.
dark mentioned a new minigame, I think that's a great idea. or even just work on bringing those old games back like infected because I remember a lot of people playing that back in the day. I loveeeddd the minigames when I first came. that's what made me stay. and I'm sure that's what made other peopel stay too. I loved especially tntrun. do we still have tntrun? boosting up the minigames would be great. there use to be events run in the minigames like boomo, does that still happen too? I see from meeptimes a lot of work has been going into jobs and towny and that's great but I think we now need to steer a little onto the minigames side if you have not already.
sure, meepcraft won't be exactly the same as back in the day because the majority of players who use to play 24/7 have now left the server and probably don't exactly play minecraft. but that doesn't mean this server is dying, there are so many more people to welcome onto here! doing something special for the new players to make them stay would be great. idk what but it should be something that captivates them to stay. maybe like a daily reward for logging on every day? then when you have many consecutive log ons you get some special reward? or some rewards when you play for consecutive hours? (bad for eyesight and health but whatevs lol) the rewards don't have to be just meebles (if it ruins the economy) but like i said somewhere before it can be some small items that could help a new player out. this is different to the voting concept, because voting wants you to click a link and fill in the captcha which boosts up meepcraft on the different minecraft server websites. so I think both daily rewards and voting would be super beneficial. voting is great now btw with the vote keys I love it
it's not like Minecraft is dying, there are still 1000s of players playing on other servers you probably know which ones I'm talking about. so it definitely is possible to get meepcraft back up there with 100s of players like we use to have. just gotta put the foot off the brake and onto the accelerator to make the server shine like it use to!
sorry for the long post I just absolutely loved meepcraft back when I first joined and I want other new players to feel the same when they join now.
: )

There is a line between enjoying meep as a break from everyday life, and becoming more invested in the time and relationships on meep than in real life. These posts make it appear you cross that line. In the end, people you meet on a minecraft server or teamspeak are not adequate substitutes for genuine relationships. You may just over-exaggerate in your posts, but if not, having an emotional reliance on people you met on a video game is not healthy.

- Thread: can we talk trash about OhDraqq
I honestly love the draqq story. He went from someone hugely toxic and immature; think spiderstrike but add 3 years of immaturity
(#odraqq4obaqq was a great meme be real)
To someone completely mature and giving the server his hard work and talent. Honestly he's suoer professional and a great builder. Peopld complain about staff bias but come on guys, if ODRAQQ can do it anyone can. Don't get me wrong he very much had to work for it, but he did a good job and was forgiven.
That being said
Draq is one of the most unqualified, untalented, rude, and abusing staff there is

The people who complain about instant teleporting won’t even play long term anyways. No /tpa is basically standard for most of the big towny servers right now and they’re doing pretty well, averaging over 100 people even in down times on their platforms, it would seem then that they don’t have a problem without tpa
From what I’ve seen in game no /tpa has improved it tremendously. Already we have several major infrastructure projects all around the map, towns are already starting to negotiate and form agreements with each other, creating a nice and strategic environment that wasn’t present in classic towns. I don’t know how true this may be but I’ve also noticed a spike in activity where we frequently hit 50+ even on weekdays (this may have been happening before just I didn’t notice).

Sarge, I feel you entirely. I feel like I'm the exact same besides the fact I started at a later time than you. I invested the better part of 2~ years here, but now I've lost inspiration and motivation. I'll always have an attachment to the server, and it sucks to see it like this. But it really is dying, and even though some of it is Meep's fault, the EULA and the game itself is making a huge impact too. Minecraft is decaying in general, and it's sad to see this happening. I wish all the best for you, and I really liked your post.Lady_Hestia, Peero, Lakirias48 and 11 others like this. -

The problem isn't all in what gamemodes we have, it's that they aren't maintained. Infected and hunger games, arguably the most popular minigames, have both been down for months!
That's the kind of thing that makes us lose players. Look at picture on the front page of the forums. "Media positions now open, submissions end June 23rd"....2015!!!!
That does not make us look like a thriving community, it makes us look like a dead one. A player sees an advertisement, Hunger games or infected, come for it, ask what happened to it, gets some snotty answer that "omg11!!!1!1!!1! They been down for months when will people learn fr gds saKe11!1!". Would you say "community seems rude, their games are broken, I'm now gonna move on to towny" or would you say "LOL gonna go find another server"?? This happens everyday.Lady_Hestia, CluelessKlutz, Lemoh and 11 others like this. -
The player base wasn't competitive and large enough to support it, so the goal of revamp was to attract all the older players to return, and retain new ones. All done at the expense of those of us playing right before revamp. And that's a major problem. For example, myself and a small group of people were online every single day, were all crushing it on baltop, had massive builds and projects, and knew almost every player-side command. We were probably the most knowledgeable non-staff members of the server in its current state. I, personally, also knew just about every active member at that time. So one would think when a massive, server-changing update was planned, that could be the difference between the end and the revival of said server, we would have been consulted maybe a little bit. Instead, all decisions seemed to stay within the staff team, and only said staff team were involved in it. I know several people who were ex-staff and quit the server months before revamp came out who knew more about the update than me, a player who had played pretty seriously for a good while. Maybe I sound a little self-entitled here, but I truly feel like my input and other players' inputs should have been valued much higher and actually just taken into consideration at all. So many ideas that were implemented and failed could have easily been either fixed or voided altogether if they had just asked people other than staff. Newsflash, just because you're a staff member, doesn't mean you know what's best for the server. Staff members are chosen for their kindness, helpfulness, activity. Yea, server knowledge is considered, but I've seen plenty of people become staff with just a few months of experience. Compare that against the 6 years I have, plus the even longer many other players have played for, and you see that being staff doesn't make you an expert. This isn't an insult to staff, it's just a fact.
It feels as though this revamp was done under the pretense that staff knew what they were doing and that player input wasn't needed. And I absolutely have no idea why this was a thing. And after high staff realized player input could actually help, it was too late. Players were asked of their opinions only after the problems arose, instead of before, when they could have outright prevented it. Town halls are useless if people feel like their opinions aren't valid.
And to mention the "staff elitism," it sounds dumb but it's actually so prevalent. As I mentioned above, being staff does not make you any better a player or person. Take me for example. I feel like I am pretty qualified to be a staff member, but I don't have the personality for it. I'm not as cheerful and helpful as them, mostly because I just don't find that fulfilling. So I don't strive to be one, because I don't want to be one. Does that mean other players who do strive to be staff are better than me? Does that mean that they deserve to have more knowledge about upcoming server updates when they play less than half as much? No - it doesn't. All it means is that they want to help other people. So why is it that many of them feel like they are above me, or have to act like they hold some big secret that I can't know until its public? It's very annoying to play a server when someone who is staff is constantly bragging about how much more they know than you because high staff decided they get information.
All players want is clarity. That's all we've ever wanted. But it seems like this is never learned. After every big fiasco that could have been prevented by simply consulting players, said players are never consulted. Just ask for our opinions, and actually take them to heart. No, not everyone's opinion will be what's best for the server. But I think the server's small enough now where high staff know who's opinions would be valid and who actually could help. Ignore the random whiners and consult the actual players. For a community-based server, there seems to be little respect for the community.BooBear1227, riri30, Natsu and 11 others like this.
