When did you join Meepcraft? I joined in 2014 but I played as early as 2012 on a different account
Introduction: Hi, for those of you who don't know me, my name is BlendyCat. I have been playing Meepcraft for quite a while now. When I started playing in the community, I would always give away my bread to new players who had even less than me. I let players stay in my base and gave them diamonds even though I had very little to work with. I was able to collaborate with a few of them and save up to buy a beta town while living in wild. We worked hard as heck and managed to purchase a town which we named Zoidburg (if you watched Futurama, you'll understand the reference). I was the best town mayor I could possibly be. I offered plots for so cheap that I was losing money on the deal. Eventually, out of the kindness of my heart, I sold the town for a low price to one of the residents who wanted to feel what power was like. At this point, I moved north and built a small town known as BlendyVille. I worked very hard on this and made a little village of houses. The town did not have many residents, but it fostered a very strong community. People say that strength comes in numbers, and they're right, but strength also comes in smaller numbers too as well as infinity which is actually a concept, not a number.
Anyways, so it was around this time that I became staff. You probably weren't around when I was staff if you are reading this, but basically I worked very hard as helper and was promoted to mod. I was liked extremely well by the community but sadly I was forced to resign later that year for reasons I cannot disclose.
In my personal life, I'm an activist for BLM, defunding the police, Climate Change, as well as decriminalizing and legalizing all drugs. I am for a free-market. I frequent BLM rallies and protest. No I am not a rioter. I have estimated that I have over 100 hours at protests for activism. I am also a dangerous coder. I started writing code when I was only 11 years old and now I'm getting much older. I know the languages Java, PHP, Python, Javascript, and even the NodeJS framework. I built a Minecraft Server to Discord Server connection API which allows users to chat between the two seamlessly as well as linking their accounts for verification to prevent spam. I also enjoy painting wildlife landscapes as well as animals or even inanimate objects like an avocado. I used to be into cars until I realized that that was a financial mistake.
When I was staff on the server, I ran a casino known as the Wild West Casino. I learned a lot about business when running it, for example how to increase profit margins. As someone who has had many minimum wage jobs, I know how important it is to do as your told and shut your mouth because the boss told you to and you should be grateful that you were even given this job in the first place. If you were to ask me what I think is super important in life, I would say that is sticking to your values and not folding under pressure. Also people, you should always be nice to people because that's a good thing to do. I actually don't believe in the Judeochristian God. I think that if you do good things because you're scared of punishment, you never really did a good thing in the first place. I personally believe that god is a motherlike-woman. She is woven into our DNA. She represents compassion and knowledge. No, I do not believe in an afterlife. Do you remember what it was like before you were born? No? That will likely be what happens after you die as well. Perhaps you join the collective consciousness. It is hard to say what will happen though. I just think Heaven/Hell is a silly concept to manipulate people into doing things they wouldn't have really done otherwise. Christianity is pretty flawed morally. The great philosopher, Ayn Rand, suggests that morality cannot exist with religion. She believes that morality comes from rationality. I think this makes a lot of sense actually. I mean even in the bible, the morality changed from the Old and New Testaments which leads me to believe that they were just based around society's standards at the time. I mean like how is eating shellfish now deemed moral, but homosexuality is still immoral? If anything, the shellfish did not consent to being eaten which makes it worse.
Another interesting question I would like to bring up is why the Meepcraft application system is completely public? It seems like a really fast way for someone to get shilled to death. There is no way to fact check and it seems like the outcome is already predetermined by the current moderation team when you send it. Basically everyone just reads the first reply to the application and piggybacks off of what that person said. So most of the time, it is just a gamble to see if the first person leaves positive or negative feedback.
Why should you be Helper? Why should I be helper?
I believe I should be helper because I have a desire to help the community. If I am made staff, I will make it my goal to increase the player count of Meepcraft as well as reducing the amount of drama. Meepcraft currently thrives on drama, and I would like to change that. I will be bringing a new policy of honesty into effect. If I mess up, I will just admit to it rather than trying to cover it up and creating a scandal in the process. I cannot speak for others, but they say "be the change you want to see in the World," and that quote really resonated with me. I actually have no recollection of who said it though. I have no interest in actual power. I am doing this mostly for my own fun and for the benefit of the community. I honestly want to see Meep grow as a community, and I believe given the tools, I can make that happen. Yes, I can be goofy or toxic at times, but I am in control of myself and I will make sure to be a good role model if given the tools. I also have lots of suggestions for how we can retain new players. Rankism is a huge problem right now. I have joined before on alternate accounts before with no rank and almost immediately people put you down for not having a rank if you speak your opinions. I get why staff are okay with rankism because they think that it makes people want to purchase ranks, which is good for the server. However, it is actually detracting from the amount of people who are willing to purchase ranks. If you just joined a server and were told you were inferior because you didn't donate to the server, how would that make you feel? Probably not so good and you'd probably leave that server unless you hated yourself. We as a community can fix this.
Another issue I would like to address is the separation between staff and the playerbase. Staff as is just aren't relatable enough. If I am made helper, I will make it my effort to connect with as many players and make sure their voices are heard. At the end of the day, staff should feel like they are on the same level as normal players, not some kind of person who will smite them at any time they see them make a small goof.
I would also like to mention at this point that I have an exstensive knowledge of the Bukkit/Spigot API and I have written many plugins for it. I do not have a ton of time to program, but I am totally willing to help write a few plugins or minigames if I can find free time.
Just keep in mind, I am not saying the server is broken and that I am the only person who can fix it. That is simply not true, I just see things that I can personally put in the effort to improve.
What are your weaknesses? What are my weaknesses?
I have no filter. I am a true person. If it comes to my mind, I will say it and sometimes this can make people mad because they don't agree. Luckily, I am working on this as well as trying to make my intentions clear if someone does show that they are offended. I am generally willing to work with people to come to a resolution if a dispute arrises.
I am not always the best at teamwork. I will sometimes try to take things into my control a bit too much. While this could be beneficial, because I am willing to do a lot of the work, many people can probably relate to this being annoying or difficult for other people who want to contribute. I am working on improving this by listening to other team members when working on a project and making sure everyone is heard rather than putting my model into action.
I try to be funny sometimes too much. While this sometimes is a good thing, other times it is just plain innapropriate. I am currently working on acting more mature. If called out, I will always stop.
