I know there has been some bad experiences with stock markets on Meep, but hear me out on this.
Currently, the economy in Extreme is better than normal for today's standards, but I am sure we can all agree that certain things will not sell. The main reason for this is the lack of demand for goods and the large amount of supply of goods. So how do you fix this?
One option is to limit resources, which decreases the supply of certain goods. However, in towny extreme only certain resources were limited, such as diamonds, while others spawn normally. This creates an unbalanced eco because some goods are considered to be in surplus (graph on the left) while other goods are in a shortage (graph on the right).
So without resetting the world, how can we decrease the surplus and increase the shortage to create market equilibrium (middle graph)?
The best answer is stocks, but not monetary stocks. It would look very similar to village trading in the sense that you would trade your fully enchanted diamond pick for X amount of stocks in a certain entity (town, person, etc). As this entity increases in value, so does your stock. However, when you want to trade your stocks in, you would receive your earnings in the same form as your deposit.
For example, if I invested 10 diamonds in Ghost_Corp when it owned 400000 skulls, then waited until the entity reach 1000000 skulls to cash in my stock, I would receive 25 diamonds (depending on inflation etc). You can also add a cool down for trading stocks to prevent abuse.
Also, since this stock market would be a physical place on the map, it would encourage pvp and further increase demand for valuable items.
Let me know what you think. Open to suggestions.
