plants need: water, sunlight, and food :-)
I used to try to grow plants without using any sort of fertilizer. Pretty much all house plants need occasional nutrients. That's the most common thing ppl forget about.
And I've killed my fair share of plants! It's easy to make mistakes. Raising animals is more forgiving. They let you know if somethings wrong.
