i really just use Reddit because it lets me talk about specific topics rather than specific people - sure, on Instagram you can talk about specific topics too but it’s not exactly made for discussion in that way
the whole subreddit system is exactly what i need to talk about games or hobbies i like
instagram is good for following specific people rather than topics, so it has its uses for me too... though i don’t use it anywhere near as much as Reddit
For example, it’s fine if you hate Trump and are pro-choice, but doesn’t seem to appeal to the more conservative crowd.

this is exactly why i can never bother with actual political discussion on reddit - they have their own views and will not let you speak of yours, the upvote downvote system is abused when it comes to “wrong opinions” so it’s near impossible to be heard
