If we went back to the Minecraft before it was bought by Microsoft (pre September 15, 2014, or 1.8), we would be fine.
I remember lots of things on the server, like the airship, kitpvp, the dance floors, boomo, skywars, but all of them were gone, and it's depressing to see a server, what was once the best server in the world (or at least in the US), fall into its current state. And correct me if I'm wrong on this, but if we weren't blacklisted, and we didn't have EULA, we would be fine, in my opinion.
