This is a Minecraft server, players donate if they like the server. If Meepcraft wants more revenue, we have to lean to all players, and that includes living up to the economy name of Meepcraft.

Real life stock trading seems fake and just doesn't really fit in with the server. For instance I buy 20 shares of intel. Cool, now what? that means absolutely nothing on meep. I don't actually own intel and buying on meep doesn't make the price change. In contrast if I buy 20 shares of Twomoos mooville moovers then I own 20 shares of his company. I own part of his company and I impact the market price of the share. Its a much more authentic experience than simply buying meaningless stocks and selling them when someone in the real world buys a bunch of them
Also, how would you measure town stocks? How would the shares be divided? By what percentage or whole of the town bank?
~ @AwesomeAdoGamer
For Towns its easier but for companies its trickier. I'll explain towns first. The worth of the town would come from three main things.
1: resident count
2:town bank
3:Amount of residents added each week
A successful town like mooville and legend would be worth far more than a town like say, Jalex or Nigeria (yes you dont know those towns thats the point)
for companies however that would have to come from the sales made and profits. A profitable company like say /pwarp large would be worth more than a random shop on market street. Before the companies and towns are added to the exchange they would be reviewed by a staff member and validated so that tiny companies cant go out with stock prices of 50k a nor can large ones go out with 50 meebs per stock.
It's too complicated and too impractical. The plugin would likely take a while and would measure few towns. A REAL LIFE stocks plugin would be far simpler for our techs and would be more PRACTICAL!

Sometimes more effort makes better things. For instance, take towny war. Many plugins already exist for towny war yet meep is making its own custom towny war plugin. The same could be done with stocks to ensure a more accurate experience for the populace of meepcraft. Granted, it may take a while. But I think it would be best to have a better, custom plugin than a tired old one that feels empty
The second point is that the community isn't everything on meep. Meepcraft could become a groupme or a social media group if it were the community solely
~ @AwesomeAdoGamer
Meepcraft advertises as a community server. This shouldn't be a hub server where groups of friends come on for a couple hours to screw around then leave and never return. The whole point of towny is to build lasting communities to connect with and relate. A community stock exchange would do wonders to help grow the server as a community
Meepcraft is also about the experiences on meepCRAFT, not Meepcommunity.
~ @AwesomeAdoGamer
Yes, thats true. And Good experiences come from good communities. As a new player i may spend a week here building a house but now what. What should that new player do? Real life stock exchange does nothing to keep players as its an empty meaningless plugin that has a better alternative in real life. Why would a new player trade stocks of apple and intel in meep instead of real life? Those that care about stocks would just trade real intel and apple stocks instead of meep intel and apple ones.
