i dont think people understand. if people just use this, the need for ultimate goes down.. getting rid of revenue.

I have a different take on this. The goals of staff when implementing features into Meepcraft are to bring joy to the players and to keep the server running. I understand that Ultimate and Legend ranked players will feel mistreated by implementing this feature but I feel that it in no way degrades the gift that PERMANENT access to /fly is. Allowing players who don't have permanent access to /fly wouldn't create some type of fulfillment but instead act more to inspire people to work towards buying ranks to support the server and receive permanent access to /fly for themselves. Having /fly as an UNCOMMON event (A couple days every 1-3 months) wouldn't allow players to feel ownership of the command and instead gets people to think about the potential such a command could have in improving the play experience for themselves. That is the exact reason that fly keys were added in the vote crate rewards--to get people to desire the Ultimate rank. The problem with keys is that their rarity, short time of 1 hour, and availability to be used whenever the player actually needs them decrease their use by players, all problems solved by having events that force players to try flying when the server wants.
I understand why players with Ultimate ranks may feel attacked by this change but I feel it's unwarranted. @KlutchDecals said once that rank perks were not given as something the player has bought but instead as something received as a gift and as such, players shouldn't feel entitled to perk rewards. At the same time, staff want to make perks rewards meaningful because ranks are expensive. The staff understand (or understood it at one point) perk buying to be a donation system with rewards attached, much more like how YouTube gives content creators special trophy "play buttons". Being serious, what advantage is given to players to have temporary access to /fly when they don't control it's availability? Giving /fly weekends every 1-3 months does not give much room for players to reap benefits from /fly such as completing large projects. Instead, this type of event gives players who don't think about rank rewards, who are content with their current positions, to think about the benefits given to those who support the server financially.
To sum up: The server should do what makes players happiest. The only Ultimates that are hurt by adding free-fly-weekends are those who feel their dignity is under attack or that they are being treated as second-class because others have TEMPORARY access to /fly. Adding free-fly-weekends is the best system to directly show players how great the rewards are for those who donate to the server.
