They physically cannot kill of all 13 of the main characters they killed off.
Why?
There’s another Spider-Man movie coming out. They’ll either have to bs their way through “this was before infinity wars” or change spidey’s.
There’s another Guardians of the Galaxy coming out. Sadly, I don’t think Rocket can be the whole team by himself. So they’ll have to come back again.
There’s another Black Panther coming out. After an amazing success with their first black superhero; why would they kill him off? Additionally, the plans for the next Black Panther all already in the making.
What this means: I think Marvel is essentially telling us that we can’t hold onto these characters forever. They don’t need to kill of characters, but we won’t be seeing much more of some characters. Simply because their stories have already been told.
In the next Avengers movie (Avengers Four) the only things I can say for almost certain are that Captain Marvel will be involved, and that some characters will have to come back (either via the time stone, or the soul stone).
For anyone who really wanted to try predicting the next movie, there is already a huge theory about how the trailer (at the end of the movie) is foreshadowing that the story will delve into the Soul Stone’s alternate dimension where all the souls are kept.
