Wither skulls?

My spawners never spawn wither skeletons in the nether anymore; is it possible to get wither skulls now?

there are a couple things here
either
a. spawn rate for withers was reduced
b. you're just unlucky or arent being patient enough
c. wither skeletons dont spawn as often from skelly spawners to prevent farming like this

its possible, you may just have to actually hunt your own wither skellys out n about

Wither Skeletons do not spawn from normal skeleton spawners (even in the Nether) as of version 1.11. That's your entire issue.

You can create a wither platform for spawning wither skellies instead, this is simply just finding a nether fortress and making a giant platform on it for the mobs to spawn, for an optimal spawn rate apply lower slabs to every block near the area to stop mobs spawning elsewhere

@Vexmae Agree, I think that should work. That's was my Plan B (Plan Z?) I was hoping I could avoid gridding my entire nether in 16x16 grids every 16 steps up and down to see if I have a nether fortress in my space ;)

This will not work as you will need to have a nether fortress chunk which doesn't really generate in the nether that we currently have. I do however have wither skelly grinder and can give you some skulls. send me a mail in game or msg me when you see me on. :)

OK will do :)

But even though the fortresses themselves don't generate, the *location* of fortresses still work. I.e. in the original (single player) skyblock I build my own nether fortress and my own witch hut to farm those, and since they were in the right place, the withers, blazes and witches spawned there because that's what the location was.

It was easier to find the witch hut and nether fortress locations because I had the world key ;) and I could spawn the regular world with that key and find them. But I might be able to find a nether fortress *location* by building a gigantic matrix of grids. Although I probably wouldn't ;)

But I will look for you & see about your wither grinder! That would be awesome and much appreciated!
