Technically you right however if you look at the canadian charter or rights and freedoms in section 2 you will see we have freedom of expression, freedom of religion , freedom of thought, freedom of belief , freedom of peacful assembely freedom of association.

Now technically you can be stripped of your freedoms however this is extremely rare. You cannot be stripped of your rights (thats the difference)
This is also fairly common here, especially if you live in Ontario or quebec
