i remember on my old server there was a huge war that was fun at the time but led to new rules being added leading to the banning of many players

+1 if towns can choose not to participate in a war. I personally wouldn't want something like this but other people might.

if ppl want it it needs to be regulated and things should be perm toggled in towns like explosions and pvp, dont expect to go into war without losing anything thats not how war works

[FONT=Tahoma]I believe towny wars is a [/FONT][FONT=Tahoma]nono[/FONT][FONT=Tahoma]. Here's why: (Includes some points from other players)

-Some people could loose their homes and items without knowing it.

-New rules could be made overtime and would possibly result in an increase in bans.

-Some towns would rather have peace rather than wars. (Even if they weren't in it.) As well as the teams that are in war trying to bribe other towns that aren't on any side to ally with them.

-It could result in an extreme increase in toxicity with total chaotic conditions, specifically in the towns themselves (with property possibly getting ripped apart) and in chat.

-Speaking of which, technological complexity would be involved such as the plugins and how it would hold up important projects.[/FONT]

Seriously though, wars would encourage people to be more active and involved in their towns as long as it was toggleable. We also have nations now, so players could choose a nation to fight with.

As @Its_Madison stated, I totally agree with this provided there is an option for towns to opt out. Towny wars can be a really fun and challenging addition to the server if it is implemented correctly! +1

im all for wars but towns need to have actual war, with explosions toggled on and pvp permanately toggled on so theres no border camping that isnt fun at all but a massive war makes servers more active, so basically there needs to be a formal agreement between 2 towns that will have explosions toggled on and pvp toggled on

Town wars would pull a lot of people into the server and would make things more fun, but considering the toxicity that goes on between some towns it could get to be a little chaotic.

Simple fix for toxic behaviour which takes no time and all moderation staff have.

I would just like to have explosions and pvp permanately toggled in the towns that are fighting eachother so it is like an actual war and not just border camping. It would be awesome just shooting TNT into towns, and also it will cause more ppl to buy tnt and stuff

Not trying to doubt the moderation team, but it would be still be difficult without any doubt to handle some of the toxicity that could go through.

What if we made two "throwaway" towns every now and again and did this over some fabricated dispute? This way:

TNT is still usable and fun because you get to bomb stuff
nobody gets super triggered because their town got in a way
participation is optional
the towns can be right next to each other to allow for optimum war
nobody will lose massive valuables

also player-made events typically are easier to set in motion than server-made events (and don't break the economycough cmobs cough)
