How do you think I should improve building skills?

I am not the worst nor the best builder. I want to get tips to dramatically improve my builds. How do you think I should go about this? Should I just stick to my own building style (while improving) or adapt to the mainstream designs? (Modern, traditional, craftsman, etc) And when I go about this what should I do? Slowly improve? Try new and different ways of doing things? Try different color schemes and blocks? I have so many questions!

TL;DR: How should I improve my builds? Use certain "styles" or develop my own? Try new things or improve what I am working on?]

Sorry for all of the questions. I just really want to impress people when they look at my builds!

finding a style that you can do with ease without struggle is good, especially if you're planning to make a prebuilt town, making plots with ease will allow you to make more than one house in different version without having to keep looking back at images, regarding the houses themselves I'd say spacious and detailed exterior will tempt people to own the houses, add a few stairs near windows to create windowsills, little hangoffs, hanging over rooves
try experimenting with things you like, and you may find a style that suits you

well, I used to suck. Then I started watching the occasional building tutorial and they all say the same things pretty much
1. Make buildings shaped, not just a box. Add some depth, ya know?
2. Build a lot, practice makes you better.
3. try challenges of things to build that are out of your "comfort zone" a fun thing to do is ask for a noun, verb, and adjective, then build that. A Fast House Smoking? A Hot Robot running? things like this (plus build battles on minigames server of your choice) helps you build not only better houses, but better and faster overall. (build battles on meep would be cool... hmmm)
